He is my 5:
#1- (95-96) UNC-G ... They lost to Cincy by 5 or 6 I think in the tourney... They were every bit as good as any WU team, ask Randy Peele he coached them. They were mid-major for sure.
#2- (04-05) Winthrop... You have to give that program the nod with what they have accomplished the last 8 years.
#3- (96-97) Liberty.... I think this team was deeper and more talented than the 95-96 team, they also won 23 games and how they lost the championship game to Chuck South is still an LU mystery.
#4- (97-98 ) UNC-Asheville... Altough they got beat by Radford at the buzzer in the BS Championship game, this has been Eddie B's most talented team by far... these guys were really good! Randy Weil(?) left this team to Eddie, he recruited these guys and then left for a better job at MTSU.
I can't really say about 5 you can argue all day about the UNC-G 94-95 team or any of the Winthrop teams, the 95-96 Liberty team was very good as well like paradox said and also the 93-94 Liberty team... I just think the teams in the 90's were better because the league was very good 1-8. The teams had much better overall records than they do now, that's not for debate, that's fact!

There was a Coastal team in the mid to late 80's , maybe early 90's with a player named Tony Dunkin. He is still the only played to be named league MVP 4 times. They went to the NCAA's as a 16 seed and almost beat #1 seed Indiana.

Flameshaw you beat me to the punch. Not going to do a list but Asheville had some tough teams with Kevin Martin, Robert Stevenson and POY Josh Pittman. Josh was one of the best in the country at the 3 spot his last 2 seasons. I wouldn't put that 94 Liberty team anywhere near the 96 or 97 teams in terms of talent. Hildo and Aluma and Dixon stepped up and won it in 94 but that team struggled most of the season and came on strong late. Those Coastal teams of 89-90 and 90-91 were as good as I have seen in this conference.

Is it just me, or is that painful to read. How about next time just put "hurt his groin". Reading it the way you have it makes me want to walk with a limp.
As far as the teams, I don't really remember as far back as some of you so it would be hard for me to argue what you have. I would say I think the '04-'05 WU team should be higher... but maybe that's just because I'm a Winthrop fan.
You could put some other teams in there, but I'm not sure who you'd take out. Coastal did have some very good teams in the early '90s, so it would be hard to not have at least one Coastal team in there... unless this Top 5 list is just for teams that didn't end up getting there school put on probation.
