i guess we should just count CSU out of the picture.
LAS VEGAS (AP) -Clayton Morgan had 20 points and eight rebounds, Maurice Sumter added 19 points and six rebounds, and Longwood beat Charleston Southern 73-67 Friday in the third round of the Las Vegas Classic.
The Lancers (4-10) outscored Charleston Southern 11-0 for a 63-56 lead, and they were on top the rest of the way. The Buccaneers (5-7) missed 10 field goal attempts and seven free throws while going scoreless for 7 1/2 minutes, and had only three field goals in the last 10:26 - all in the final 30 seconds.
Morgan shot 8-of-15 before fouling out with 2:12 remaining, and Sumter was 6-of-10 including 3-of-3 from 3-point range. Kirk Williams added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Lancers, who shot 24-of-59 (41 percent) and led 37-32 at halftime.
Donnell Covington led the Buccaneers with 27 points, making 10-of-12 shots. Dwayne Jackson added 10 points and Chris Moore and Brandon Macklin scored nine each for the Buccaneers, who shot 25-of-54 (46 percent).

before we played longwood, a friend of mine that plays on the team told me that we should run threw the big south. this was right after they beat HPU. from the looks of it, it seems as if it will be us and WU in the championship. i hope it looks right.

Let's don't anoint ourselves "arrived" just yet. We've got some work to do still.

We've also lost several straight. While I think we've got a chance to make it through the Big South, we've still got a long way to go.

And HPU did end up beating Longwood..it was close, but HPU did win.

The transitive property does not work in sports.

I still think it will come down to WU LU HPU and VMI ....count CSU, RU, UNCA, and CCU(they suck) out of contention.

You're kidding about VMI, right? Their style will keep them in games but they just aren't that good of a team.

in the BS they can win, except against us and WU

Ehh, maybe. Granted, the only teams I've seen playing in the Big South are us, Winthrop, and VMI, but I just don't think VMI is very good. They might get better as the season goes on, but when I saw them, they just weren't good.

Oh, there not good....but, the way the conferenc is this year they have a chance at third (at best).

I see your point. Our conference sucks.
At this point in time it's Winthrop and then everybody else, and if someone thinks other wise, they're looking through rose tinted glasses.

Too many comments to make at that.....will not even get into it. I do sometimes question if that is the case of some people.

manger, why do you say stuff like that? so chuck south loses to longwood...it is one game. they were not going to be a factor in the race anyway. we have not even played a big south game and you are anointing us in the championship? we have a lot of work to do to be in that position.

Longwood won a game? That explains all the gunshots I heard
Seriously though, every team suffers bad losses once in a while-this means nothing.

just creating some more convo on the board. i do see us going far in the conf. tourny though. i can't see anyone holding dwight, and i think he is our best player who is very unselfish and helps the people around him get better.

Well, the loss to Longwood for CSU might've been bad, but what they did today was even worse. The Bucs lost to Maryland-Eastern Shore, 74-49...UMES came into the game 1-8. It was not a good trip to Vegas for CSU, not only losing to two bad teams, but getting blown out by UMES is not good at all. They are now 5-0 in games played in Charleston (either at the BucDome or at the North Charleston Coliseum), but 0-8 outside of the comforts of Charleston County.

A bad loss, but as others have said we need to worry about ourselves rather than others. Other than WU, we have the most talent (maybe more than them, I'm not sure) so if we take care of our business we should be right there with WU the whole year. We must learn to win on the road, though.
