WKU 1/21/26 7:30

The great LU armchair coach has spoken again, and shocker—Liberty wins. The Flames run wild, shots keep falling, and WKU spends most of the night trying to figure out when exactly things went sideways. Final call: Liberty 83, WKU 74. Easy cover for the Boozy LU bettors rejoice, because the streak lives on and the slips keep cashing. That’s 10 straight dubs and a clean 8–0 in league play, which at this point feels less like a hot streak and more like the universe just agreeing with the armchair coach. Fade it if you want—but don’t complain when the Flames do it again Saturday before the snowmageddon.

Up 2.5 games on MTSU with a game against them next week. If we take care of business we’ll all but have things wrapped up before we even get to February. I’ll take that all day. The parity across the rest of the league really helps us out here.

Gotta hand it to myself—the GREAT LU Armchair Coach—because once again, shocker, Liberty wins. Sure, the crystal ball was a little drunk on the final score, but details are for losers. The Flames ran it, WKU wandered around like the Wi-Fi was out, and the only thing that mattered still happened: the ticket cashed. So no, it wasn’t 83–74… it was 76–69—same movie, same ending, just a quicker walk to the cashier. Nine straight becomes ten, league play stays spotless, and the universe keeps aggressively agreeing like, “We hate this guy—but he’s right.” Adjust the margin, not the respect. The streak lives, LU covers, the bourbon flows irresponsibly, and Delaware is already trembling—either from the cold rolling in or the Flames coming to town. Probably both.

It is odd seeing the Toppers in the bottom half of the league standings. But the portal renders history pointless in relation to the present.

I gotta believe that our relative roster stability here has lent itself well to our success this year. While other teams spend the better part of the season developing chemistry with all the portal additions and subtractions, we are simply refining and improving on what we've been doing for the last 2-3 years.

Agreed.

As someone who admittedly doesn't follow non-LU basketball nearly as much as college baseball and football, the roster stability of McKay's teams the past few years has really been a breath of fresh air.

I'm all for the kids making their due. Still, I think it's more engaging as a casual fan when you don't have to spend the first half of every season relearning the roster/numbers/stories/personalities.
