What if 2025-2026?

Hypothetical question. Let's say Taelon & Jayvon don't get another year, Kaden don't come back for his extra year, Colin. Owen, & Zach all transfer. Could this happen what's the rest of LU Armchair coaches think? Has anyone else thought this could be a possibility?

"Could" is a word that can be used to imply something might happen which is EXTREMELY unlikely. While it would be incorrect to say those players "couldn't" leave (there is nothing actually preventing them from doing it) The fact is, it doesn't make much sense ( if any) in light of the current success the team is having and the key roles they are playing in that success.

In the cases of Peter and Maughmer the idea that that they may have petitioned to extend their eligibility only to turn around and transfer quite frankly sounds bizarre. It's up to the NCAA, or possibly the courts to determine what happens there. The NCAA's track record in court regarding their rules concerning player eligibility or movement has not been good. Having lost the Pavia case, I am thinking they may just cave rather than go through the hassle and expense of further litigation, only to be embarrassed again.

No way. McKay has a history of holding onto players - not sure this would all of the sudden chnage.

I know one thing - we will be compettiive every year...

The only way that could possibly happen would be if Coach McKay left. And that isn't happening.

I didn't say Jayvon & Taelon would transfer i said they don't get another year. Kaden doesn't return for his extra year and one of the other three decides he is ready to leave maybe closer to home. What's the chance of the other two leaving? I say very good!!!!

That is correct HCRM has had a great track record with retaining players. JV last year surprised him, but his lose was LU's gain. This is 2025 and the NCAA revenue share is taking effect. This changes things by a lot.

Inside connections flamehunter? Lots of factors for this, HCRM age, quick payday from P5 school for about a 4-year deal would/could be crazy not to mention year in year out possible NCAA tourney.

McKay had his run at a major P4 with his stint at UVA with Coach TB. The fact that he left to come back to LU and has been here since, despite TB leaving, says a lot for me. From the people I know, UVA fans loved McKay and I heard several say to me that they hoped he was the first call in finding a replacement.

HCRM has built something here that he likes and he gets to run it his way. The school's mission aligns with his own and at this stage in his career that seems to be priority 1. Just my $0.02.

HCRM had a run with UVA but not as the top dog. He has a great job here at LU, but he also is getting close to retirement and as we begin to get close to that time lots of things change. Ron Sanchez only shot was the way Bennett left UVA right before the season. All i am saying is HCRM will have a shot at UVA if he wants. IMO they're some factors that will determine this. Tick Tock Tick Tock as the year winds up we will see in the meantime I hope LU gets to the dance.

No inside connections, just what AI told me.
JK - Actually, it's common sense and trust in HCRM's character.

What’s HCRM character have to do with him staying at LU or venturing out to another university. Do you not think his character would be the same?

You just told us he's close to retirement age... How old do you you think he is?

Character means a lot. Great coaches don't chase jobs - they build a program. McKay has done that here and he makes a good paycheck without all those other headaches.

He left once and when he came back he pretty much said he was here for good, unless he was told to leave.
You haven't followed the program closely for very long have you?

This team lacks the discipline when it comes to free throws. The mechanics of shooting from anywhere should be the same.

I hear you on the ball playing and also your opinion on retirement. Just hear me out, enjoy this ride. HCRM may possibly take another job and retire soon after like 4 years. Bennett is 55 years and that too young to retire also!!!

Bennett is not retiring... Bennett was frustrated where things are going and wasn't enjoying UVA. I could see a situation where he goes to a big time school where academics aren't an issue and NIL is handled by someone.

Have you heard the good news? Coach McKay signed a contract extension!! That really was a "quick payday" as you put it, but not from a P5.

Most certainly did, seems like a lot of X posters that are Debbie Downers posted about it also. So thankful. I also saw 2 MBB players getting baptized by Pastor PJ last weekend. Are they anything any better?
