Sounds about right since we beat them worse than that at their place, but home court, for whatever reason, has not seemed to be as big a factor as usual for us this year. FIU at home is as close as we will get to a sure thing in this conference, which actually scares me a little. Just get the W.

Jax St has 2 at home this week (NMSU and UTEP). Nobody has beaten them there so far, but I just have a hunch that may change.

Would certainly love for Jax State to drop one this week. I think we might need that to get the 1-seed. We obviously can win out but that will be incredibly difficult. After this week, JSU plays at Liberty, at FIU, and Kennesaw at home.

NMSU leads Jax St 35-23 at the half.

MTSU also takes a loss (to La Tech) leaving us all alone in 2nd place, 1/2 game behind Jax St.

Great night for the Flames while we sat on the couch. Also, this league is crazy. Anybody can win any night.

Perfect opportunity for us to pull off the #1 tournament seed in these 5 remaining games. We just need to go make it happen.

Be careful what you wish for. The distinct possibility of playing Sam in the quarterfinals is scary. They are playing as well as anyone in the league right now. Other options are not much better. The balance/depth of the league is ridiculous.

It's a travesty that this league is not at least a two-bid league to the NCAA. The top two finishers in this league could easily beat the P4 bubble teams that suck up all the bandwidth.

I have to wonder how much Play Basketball some are watching. We are a very short team, with questionable athleticism at many positions. Did anyone watch the BYU/Kansas game the other night? I ask, because theoretically, we should be able to recruit with BYU. They are a long/athletic team.
I don't believe an all-star team from the C-USA could finish in the top half of a P4 conference.
I am a huge fan of Coach McKay. I believe he is perfect for LU. I just don't understand why we can't recruit big, talented, athletic players. We only need 9 good players, football you need 50, baseball 20, etc.

Sounds like you're still watching last year's team. We have made big strides toward where we need to be this year, thanks to Coach McKay recognizing what our weaknesses were and recruiting the likes of Maughmer, Aquino, Ihnen, and Peter. We have been much more competitive all season long. I am confident we will continue to grow literally and figuratively.

BYU just got the #1 basketball prospect in the country for 2026 due to a $7M NIL deal. Times have changed. We can’t compete with that.

BYU also big 12? Which means tv rights more than CUSA do we know how much of a share LU will be getting? Speculation I have seen is Jax St and FIU around 10 mil.

Not sure how long BYU has been in the Big 12, but believe it has only been a year or two? $7M is not in our league. Maybe some day.

What do you think our league is flameshaw? 100,000? 50,000? 25,000? Just scholarships and all money to coaches. What your thoughts on NIL for Liberty?

I don’t think Dr. Falwell would have liked hearing “we can’t”. What needs to happen for us to compete with BYU if needed?

We need a billionaire or two to throw all of their financial weight behind LU athletics as their vanity project. That’s what most of the top schools in NIL have in common.

We get the W over FIU 58-45 in spite of 0 points from Cleveland and 2 from Aquino. Yates stepped up huge with 9 pts on 3-4 from 3.

Intriguing concept. Who is "out there" with that kind of money who would align closely enough with our mission?

We need a Green family (Hobby Lobby) from the sports world.

That isn’t something you can just recruit like a QB in the portal. The people that throw tens of millions of dollars at a university are almost always alumni that feel an obligation to the school because they feel like they wouldn’t be in that kind of financial position without the school. LU has a decent number of successful musicians, politicians and athletes on their alumni list but no billionaires to my knowledge.
