The Miners have been a tough matchup for us. Hoping Ritchie can come up with a way around it.

LU’s small guards can penetrate but they can’t finish or convert to points because they are too small. If McKay continues to have the 2 small guards playing at the same time for good amount of minutes, I do not see this team go very far this year.

Great second half for us tonight against UTEP. I’m amazed that Taelon Peter escaped other D1 programs for so long. He has been lights out of late. What a great recruiting find for us. I am impressed!

This is a huge win!
We got UTEPs best effort and still came out on top.
Some huge buckets down the stretch

If LU plays a better team. How long will this gameplay last? We have already seen in past games against better opponents that the 2 small guards becomes a weakness when they play at the same time. If some of you thinks that the team will survive playing the two small guards for the rest of the year, then we definitely on opposing point.

Is that like saying If a frog had wings, it would avoid hitting its posterior when it jumped?

Taelon reminds me of a slightly shorter Ray Allen. He moves smoothly, has very little wasted motion in his shooting form, and is sneaky athletic.
I feel like he should be a little more assertive. I like the humility he has but him being on the floor more increases our odds of winning. Plain and simple.

We’re 21-5 and 1 game out of first place in the 8th toughest league in the country. I say keep doing what we’re doing.

What’s your solution? Who on the roster would you play in place of one of those of whom you speak?

Maughmer, Peter, Cleveland, Aquino, (Porter or Matheny). I can’t say much about Blair. At least Decker is 6’3 and athletic.

The offensive surge in the second half was initiated mostly off the guard play of Porter/Metheny. UTEP had no answer for what they were doing off penetration & high screens.

The only player on the roster who makes any sense at all for what you are proposing is Decker, a true FR who has shown bursts of talent (primarily against weak opponents), but has seen little action in conference play. As you contemplate why that is, may I suggest focusing on reasons other than "our coach is not as smart as me, and doesn't understand what is needed to succeed against better teams".
I think Decker is a legit talent, and there is still a chance he could resolve the problems that are keeping him off the floor (think defense) and make a bigger contribution down the stretch. He will almost certainly be a key in helping compensate for the loss of Peter and Maughmer next year. As far as Porter and Metheny playing a lot of minutes is concerned, I suggest you get used to it till March of 26.

Yours is more like a stubborn bias based on a flawed stereotype.

In basketball everyone’s constantly learning. Everyone includes coaches, players, observers. Can’t imagine being familiar with this team and devaluing CP/KM. Willfully absurd.

I am not devaluing their abilities but we also have to be realistic about their limitations. The game of basketball is defense first if you want to win championships. If their size is hurting the defense part of the team, then adjustment must be made. This is what I’m saying. Their are players on the bench with size and athleticism.

The problem with that assumption is that it can’t be backed up. Again, it’s based on bad stereotypes, and is not connected with anything real.

This guy don’t have a clue look at evanmiya.com and kenpom.com that vinespom post about all the time and you can see the defensive score per player. It’s obvious that he is an experienced coach and another LU Armchair coach. lol
