NIL- How are we doing with NIL at LU?

A lot has changed in the five years since Virginia won the 2019 national title - Augusta Free Press

Does anyone know how LU is doing on the NIL front?

How is this being used with basketball?

How far are we willing to go with using NIL to acquire talent?

How much input do our coaches have on this?

It is looking like the Blueboods are not having an issue going as high as $1 million for a player (which is astounding). See here https://throughthephog.com/posts/kansas ... hv5x91g075

I know Armando Bacot and Caleb Williams were in the $1 million range at UNC. I'm not a proponent of buying players but at the same time this seems to be where things are moving to some degree (like it or not).

We are doing just fine on the NIL front, one of the best at the G5 level.

Although I know getting passed on by a couple of power schools he was interested in is likely the biggest reason he chose to return, I would be surprised if Salter did not get something substantial from us as well. If so, money well spent.

Another LU Armchair coach, do you still fill the same or do you fill ROBBED?

It is not a coincidence that the SEC is dominating college basketball right now. 14 teams in the Dance including a slew up top. The schools ponying up are forcing a large shift in the college hoops landscape. Now that payments are above the table and open for discussion, some of the schools that benefited from the old system are sliding back to the pack.

The preseason tourneys that sprouted up this year offering to fund NIL collectives instead of going straight to universities was a warning that change is happening rapidly and the system is not keeping up. Expect more of these enticements that allow schools to have money funneled into their NIL accounts until the House Settlement fully kicks in.

Am I the only one who finds this new semi-pro era of NCAA Hoops less attractive? I am a certified Old Hag after all. :oldhag

It’s hard to know intent. But, he doesn’t appear to be hating on a team that he claims to support.

Kansas St had the highest NIL that we faced. It’s more than spending money if kids don’t want to be at LU you are wasting your money. Last I checked LU is a conservative school!!!!

Play Basketball :P Play Basketball

Not at all. Pretty sure Tony Bennett would agree as well.
