Our Flames will tip off the Myrtle Beach Invitational, hosted by Coastal Carolina, against the Paladins of Furman on Thursday, 11/16. Furman was one of the most vocal opponents to Liberty joining the SoCon in our early Division I days. They are currently 2 - 0, with wins over North Greenville and a convincing 99 - 76 win over former ASun member Belmont.

Our finances has always been our biggest hurdle, followed by our academics and politics, when it comes to conference membership. Fortunately, our academics has improved over time and is getting better. Our politics is what it is. But it's funny how back in the 90's our not having money and being financially unstable was our biggest stumbling block. And now it's because we have too much money and can outspend everyone and leave them.

This is a terrible camera angle. Is it just me or is that bothering anyone else?

We’re really not shooting and finishing well so far but still up by 1. If we keep playing D like we are right now we should come up with a W.

Was it last year or the previous year nearly every game we let one player absolutely torch us and have a career night? I remember it got to just an absurd level of guys having career games against us. Anyway, number 5 is well in his way.

But we look pretty good overall. Just need a bit more consistency in offense. We can certainly win this game.

Furman was the second highest ranked team in the tournament after LU based on Ken pom. We play Wichita state tomorrow night which has the 3rd highest ranking. If we win tomorrow we'll play the winner of Vermont/SLU which are the 4th and 5th ranked teams in the tourney respectively. Of course these rankings don't have much data yet this early in the season but in theory we just comfortably beat our toughest opponent in the tournament.

Great game and great teamwork as usual. Liberty plays like Christians should.

Small complaint in Cleveland’s free throw shooting but love him overall as a player.

Metheny looked quicker than the last two games.

This team is sneaky good.

For sure. There was a little run Liberty had early in the second half with back to back steals and back to back slam dunks on the Venzant ali-oop and the Cleveland flush. Seriously changed the momentum of the game.
