Great start for MBB

I have been watching from Amish country and it looks like the boys are off to a great start. Dad saw them against ECU and SFU and he said they look like a completely different team from last year. Got to beat Longwood on Saturday. They seem to be much improved as well.

ECU win - huge. The only blemish is the Oklahoma game but honestly our guys were probably looking past them to Cincy Christian and got upset. I hope we play the Sooners again in the NCAA tourney.

If we stay healthy looks like the boys from Rock Hill may have some competition this winter.[/quote]

HBF,

I saw Papa HBF at the ECU game! Hope you can get down and join him for a game real soon. It was great having you guys at the tailgates for football. I would love to see fan support for Men's hoops and even ladies hoops like we had for football. It has never happened like that at LU before. That is great for recruiting. We have enough students to do the same thing for hoops. I have been to convocation. I know they know where the Vines is.

SCAR:

I plan on getting down there for a couple of games this year. Trying to plan a Satuday/Monday set up. I still may make it over to SFU on 12-16 for a roadie. Dad said he saw you at the game - he was pretty pumped about the progress of this team. I'll let you know when we are coming down so we can get some autographs!

Why the heck shouldn't he.

If we were in the 300 range, you can bet that would be posted and the haters would be out in a larger force asking Barber to make a decision now.

What's that old show tune? "You've got to Accentuate the Positive...." Quote away. I wouldn't put much credence in it either way.
Although I DID like the post saying we were Top 10 in the NAIA!! :D

no kidding AG...God forbid something positive be said on here...I suggest a few of you just staying off the board until we lose our next game...then you'll have plenty to talk about and have something to back it up with...a loss

Say all you want they have no meaning this time of year...you'll be some what correct, although they do give you a pretty good idea...its no different then college football polls or preseason polls in mbb...it gives you something to build on

After watching this team play over this past weekend I can honestly say that we are really talented and deep. I really believe this can be a special season. We will find out soon enough once we get to the "meat" portion of the schedule. After we play Longwood and St. Francis(PA) which should be fairly easy wins we get to find out how good the Flames really are at this point in time. Buffalo, Lipscomb, BYU, Seton Hall, and Oral Roberts are legitimate top 150 teams and most, if not all of them will be top 100 teams. If Liberty can pull out 2-3 wins on that stretch we will be looking good to contend for the Big South. Well that action takes places two weeks from now which will give us some time to continue to gel. There is definitly a lot of room for improvement and that is what is so exciting. They are beating up on teams and they still are not clicking on all cylinders. BJ Jenkins is an absolutely awesome passer, defender, shooter, dribbler, and penetrator. This guy has the whole package and when Brew has to sit on the bench BJ will be ready to lead this team to victory. I also was very impressed with the play of Justin Holland who is showing leadership ability and is an exceptional defender. The guy is constantly looking for the ball and has a knack of stealing it or finding a loose ball on the floor. These two guys are going to make huge plays for the Flames in the days to come and will probably be the difference from being a pretty good team to being a very special team.

I believe this is our best team since our Championship team...with the potential to be just as good...unfortunitly for us the rest of the BS didn't sit around and wait for us to get better and there are some teams that are looking pretty good themselves

oh man, did I just get thrown on the hater bus after saying that SOS and RPI shouldn't be used after we've played 3 whole D1 games?

no, I believe you were thrown UNDER the WHEELS of the hater bus. And I prefer the term: hater express.

you bet ya a great start....five straight home wins, shot 62% and 67% in second half while giving up 32% against d1 teams, freshman of the week, five in double figures against st. f,
score over 100 pts(twice) for the first time since 1992, have shown inside presence, out rebounding opponents, have a bench to contribute, signed a 7-foot top rated talent from nigeria, and still get to add a second team all big east talent to the mix. wow are things exciting for the men's basketball program!
