I just saw this great article that broke down the basketball budgets by conference and team that I think a lot of you will find interesting.

During the 2018-2019 season we were ranked 127 of 353 teams with a $3.4 million budget. For reference the average asun budget that year was $1.9 million. C-USA was the conference that had the closest average budget to our spending. They were ranked 11th as a conference with an average budget of $2.9 million.

By the 2020-2021 season we were ranked 95 of 344 with a $4 million budget. It helps a lot that our budget increased while covid caused the rest of cbb to lower spending. That budget puts us between the #7 ranked AAC and #8 A10. We now have a decent spending advantage over the average C-USA school.

Also we were ranked second behind grand canyon university as the school that spends the most money relative to their conference since we spend roughly 2.5x the average asun school.

Also from what I can gather our football budget was $17.9 million which puts us within the top 5 of G5 and ahead of a few low tier P5s. Considering there are big discrepancies between team specific spending and total athletic spending across the board I assume that a lot of money is going to football that isn't being included in these numbers though.
