Not sure what happened with him here, but I hate that we encouraged him to graduate HS earlier than he should have and burn waste his freshman year only to see him transfer out. I know Porter worked out, but I'm really against kids leaving HS early. Let them finish HS, we're making kids grow up way too soon these days.

I agree in theory. But sometimes these kids are actually old enough to graduate but were held back for athletic reasons. So it is tough to make blanket statements.

No, I think we can easily make a blanket statement that HS kids should finish HS with their classmates. Obviously, there's always exceptions and circumstances that are unique to each individual. But most of the time, they need to finish HS case they only get it once and it's part of the maturation process.

Again, in Moore's case, we encourage him to graduate early and then encourage him to blow his red shirt only to give him scrub minutes and have him transfer out. I think most can agree mistakes were made there.

With all due respect, can you imagine what our team would have been like this year without Porter? And beating Villanova in the NIT is something Porter can tell his grandkids about, versus some game he would have played at Ashland High.

If he has grandkids, he had no business staying in high school.

IWU is going to be stacked! Luke Brown from Stetson just committed there. Dude was an Indiana HS legend.

While it's a bit unusual for a player to enter the portal 2 years in a row, it makes some sense in Jackson's case. Probably safe to say he will have his undergrad degree this Spring, and he frankly may not have had a choice this time. With the additions of Blair and Southerland, his chances of seeing meaningful minutes would have been slim at best.

This gives us 2 scholarships, and while it would seem that a PG and a "big" would be in order, Ritchie has his own priorities, and especially where transfers are concerned, a fit with the team culture is top of the list.

This one disappoints me but I understand his thinking.

He may have other reasons for his decision, but from a strictly basketball standpoint, this could in fact be an indication that Ben Southerland has been impressive in practices, and may have moved ahead of Isaiah in the projected rotation.

I expected Peebles to transfer before Warfield. But to put a fine point on it Guards are a dime a dozen. Although every once in awhile you get a Silver Dollar like Darius!

Warfield is behind Venzant and I doubt he sees that changing. I hope we make good use of these schollies.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Warfield return next year. I love watching Warfield defend but the bottom line is if you want significant minutes on the floor you have to be able to consistently knock down the outside shot and free throws. He was given the chance but it never materialized. Did he have some solid games? Yes. Was he consistent? No he was not.

I hope he comes back. It always seems like he is going the extra yard to impress the staff in the minutes he gets. His offensive production needs to improve but I love the hustle.

As long as Shiloh stays inside the 3-point line, I'm happy with his decision. And I'm thrilled with Rode coming back!

We were on Moore's short list before he decided on BYU, which I have to say was a :dontgetit considering his background. I wonder if his decision to transfer was basketball related, or after a year he realized that BYU is NOT a Christian school.

I tell you what, if we land the BYU kid and the UNC kid we will go from the smallest LU team to the largest LU team (in one offseason) we've ever put on the court. Will be interesting to see how this all pans out. Additionally, it is possible that we are much improved for next season depending on how the portal treats us.

Bold predictions for where our outgoing transfers land:

Preston ............ Queens U.

Warfield. ............ Robert Morris

Jackson ............. Trevecca Nazarine

I will consider this a win if I am right on one of them.
