Breaking News on this Friday afternoon:

ESPN is reporting that Quin Snyder has resigned as head coach of Missouri. Former Texas A&M head coach Melvin Watkins becomes the interim head coach and former LU head coach Jeff Meyer will remain on the staff. But Meyer will likely be gone along with Watkins after the season when Mizzou looks to land a high dollar coach from somewhere else.

Wow. Do we know what brought this about?

Getting taken to the woodshed by a Baylor team that wasn't allowed to play non-conference games because of NCAA sanctions didn't help.

They've been calling for Quin's head all season. This isn't all that stunning to me.

Only the timing is somewhat surprising. It was pretty well considered a lock he was gone at season's end. I guess he wanted to go out on his own terms.

And yes, the Bears pounding a team that was ranked to start the season was the final straw.

Hopefully Coach Meyer can find a good situation next year to coach in...

Coach Meyer and I have played phone tag this week. I need to find out what is going on out there in Mizzou. No one is really surprised except for the timing. Coach K was on PTI and he said he talked to Quinn a lot this week and of course new it was coming. Meyer could have gone to Ohio St. When Thad Motta got the job (they go back to Butler together). I wonder where he will land now? He will be get a good job somewhere else I am sure.

Quinn blows, that's probably why. Every Mizzou fan I've ever heard from says that he was only still there because he was in good with the billionaires that run that school. He was just getting downright abysmal.

Chaz21? Wow I only know one person that this could be. Welcome to the board. I am guessing by your screen name that you don't want to remain anonymous. It will be interesting to see who gets this job now. Our good friend Pete Gillen will be on some lists after the end of the season but I don't know if Mizzo will go after him. I will ask him when I speak to him again. And yes I know Pete and Jeff Meyer Chaz

Scar,
I forgot to pass along that Mike says hi. That would be Coach K to you. Went and saw Stephons' team play Rollins College the other night here in Orlando (Winter Park). Rollins handled Palm Beach. He definitely needs players. It was good seeing him.
Was Meyer not first assistant for the interim position? Had breakfast with him last year when he was in Orlando. It was a good visit. He will be alright to get another position. He knows everyone.

Melvin was first assistant.

As for Stephon's kids, he was playing practically all freshmen earlier this season when he was down here in Houston. That's never a good situation in the shortterm. But i have a feeling once he adds some more talent from Texas to the kids he already has he'll be just fine next season.
