Liberty made the move from the Big South to the ASUN a couple years ago. Was this a lateral move? A slight improvement? I read the Power Rankings for the ASUN and the other teams in our conference are not looking so good.

Liberty #106
Lipscomb #219
Florida Gulf Coast #233
Stetson #244
Bellarmine #260
North Alabama #265
North Florida #296
Jacksonville #303
Kennesaw State #348

All ASUN Conference teams (minus Liberty) average Power Ranking is 271. How bad (or good) is the Big South? What about other conferences?

This ESPN Power Ranking shows Liberty at #92.
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... iew/page/2

I notice there are 8 teams from the Atlantic 10 Conference (out of 14 teams) which are ranked in the Top 100. That's pretty good! Did Liberty attempt to get into that conference?

The Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) is solid with 5 teams in the Top 200 with Murray State #89, Belmont #125, Eastern Kentucky #133, Eastern Illinois #150, Austin Peay #175.

The Patriot League isn't terrible. There are slightly better than the ASUN with Colgate #133, Bucknell #170, Lafayette #199.

I guess the one big positive with being in the ASUN (or the Big South) is Liberty has the opportunity to win their conference tournament each year and make an NCAA appearance, which is great for building the Liberty brand.

No one is excited about ASUN membership either on the mountain or any other ASUN campus. It was a marriage of convenience where we didn't have to significantly increase travel costs for non-revenue sports when we went FBS Indy. I can speak from firsthand knowledge that the others in the league looks at our budget and success and wouldn't shed a tear if we departed. Honestly the ASUN was our only real option away from the Big South.

The A-10 has been a non-starter for decades due to the makeup of those universities and how they feel about us academically and religiously. We have made overtures to that league since the '80s with no progress.

Honestly the only way I see us making a move is as an all-sport member of a league. There is plenty of speculation on this board of what that might look like. But nothing is likely to occur in the next year or so until the big P5 grant of rights get ready to expire over the courise of the nect five years. The good news is that our football and mens hoops success of the past couple of years and the departure of a chancellor makes us much more attractive in realignment.

If he had actually read the article, he would know that those rankings are for just one thing, and it is a thing he has expressed nothing but utter disdain for. Social media interractions.

Does he actually read them, or just burn them in the fireplace?

Please be advised that I did read article and knew what it was for. I was proud of the fact that ASUN beat 2 of the conferences frequently mentioned on Sea of Red board: A10 and Little East.

It's still social media interactions. You'll have to excuse me if I find that somewhat less compelling than those 2 conferences being ridiculously better than the ASUN in basketball.

Any school that is only on 6 social media platforms shouldn't be ranked. The ASUN is a joke when it comes to social media. The SEC should be first, second, and third. They are that good.

Legit question. I'm anything but a big fan of the ASUN, but what are the social media platforms beyond the 6 they are on that you think they should be, and who are they not reaching by not being on them? I'm not sure I can even name 6.

I was poking fun at Ballcoach and his hatred toward Ohio State football. I only can name three social media platforms myself.
