A quick turnaround with another overmatched squad coming into the Vines Monday night. No Scarvision once again for this one. I'll be honest, I didn't know the school in Buena Vista had been taken over by the Mormons. That's even more incentive to pound them.

VMI Defeats Southern Virginia To Move Over .500
School and Cameron Hall combined points record falls again

LEXINGTON, Va. – Just five days after a record book tsunami in which 24 VMI basketball marks fell, one of those benchmarks was set again as VMI knocked off Southern Virginia University, 144-127, Monday night at Cameron Hall.

The 271 total points overtook the “old” record of 251 points set just five days earlier at Cameron Hall when VMI overwhelmed Virginia Intermont, 156-95.

VMI can't play any defense eventhough they have scored a lot of points thus far.

I am anxiously awaiting the release of the new rankings. We should be top 5 in NAIA D-II, especially with our strength of schedule. Come-on coach. I'm a fan, but schedule a little tougher.

I had to look at that picture again to be sure it wasn't doctored... he looks like he could have been in the movie 'The Benchwarmers'.

the schedule has been set up like this almost every year. you don't think that this team needs some confidence after winning only 7 games last year. this weekend, the party starts don't worry. how come the football team can play ssu, glenville st., and st. pauls and it's ok because they need confidence after a bad year, but when do it's a bad thing?

don't worry we bring in a CUSA team this weekend and a few other d-1's. and remember dwight isn't playing until dec 16th and look at the schedule after then

the football team is division 1-AA..

our basketball team is D-1.

Don't say a mid major, because even those teams have played a bunch of other division 1 schools

what will dwight brewington give this team? good point on the schedule? wasn't 4 of football's wins against teams with no d-1 wins.

dwight will give this team great basketball knowledge, rebounding, defense, leadership, and scoring. he is a really good player. he will make a big difference to this team. the addition takes pressure off of larry's shoulders also. with guys like dwight and larry on the wings, people like mclean and smitty and do their thing much easier. mclean looks good now, but with dwight's driving ability he will be able to draw defenses to him and dish to mclean. he will bring that type of stuff. he is a high major talent, and trust me... YOU WILL NOTICE IT! i know alot of guys came in with alot hype but he's the real deal, and the blue white game was just a taste for you guys.

and dickens will find something negative. too many young men getting degrees. dunton is trying to implement scripture memorization. most of the southern conference play 2 to 4 nons. the guys are playing hard and have improved.

exacly. and that is that point of these games. we have alot of young guys and getting them experience is huge. justin holland played pretty good in those games, and as his confidence rises he's going to improve and earn himself a back up pg spot

i have said in the past i don't like these kind of games, but I do understand them, especially for a young team...but the selfish spectator in me wants to see competitive games and thats isn't happening, but i hope that these games do help us down the road because in the end its the big picture that matters and i have to remind myself of that a lot with these kind of games...the big picture

Have you guys forgot that we played Oklahoma and still have Seaton Hall, ORU, Florida, and BYU and Lipscomb on the schedule? Do you want them to play everyone in the ACC in the pre-season? I don't like the non division 1 games at all as a player or as a coach but I understand why you schedule them. I also would like to see maybe 1 or 2 of these a year but 3 this year after a tough season is ok with me. I think we need to bring in Nyack College where my boy John Jones is head coach and maybe bring in Palm Beach Atlantic where Stephon Leary is. I am sorry I missed turner this weekend as SCARVISION was not on this weekend (thank Sly for that nickname). We won't be on tomorrow but we are back in business vs East Carolina on Karl Hess night Sat Dec 2.

negative......lureal. Are you upset about something? oh, I forgot because you hate that I don't agree with the kool aide drinkers.. It's okay, really. I have been holding back from being negative on here. After tomorrow 30 point win, I will be happy........I will be even more happy when I see us do that to a good basketball team. But, until then it's just good knowing that I am right.

Let's not forget that Oral Roberts just went into Kansas and beat them and then KU turns around a week later and beats #1 Florida in OT... College hoops is going to be crazy this year

yeah man, thats what i am saying...i understand these games completely especially for this team trying to rebound from last year..however if we were coming off even a .500 season these games would be pointless, get some low-major schools in here from similar conferences as the big south...but this season its completely understandable, just painful to watch

Excellent point, AwayInTheManger. I recall me writing pretty much the same thing about our football schedule. I think what skews things is that the three games are back-to-back-to-back, as opposed to being spread out like some schools do.

I don't have much of a problem with these games. We still have some tough games ahead from now until conference starts. These games are good for the guys to try to get some chemistry, and for coach to work out the lineups he wants.

I feel these games are a necessary evil. You have to play a non or 2, but running the risk of injury in these games scares me.
