MCLEMORE, WALKER WALK ALL OVER CAGER COMPETITION

Scripps Ranch High forwards Gerald McLemore and Kenton Walker were key members of the Pump N Run Elite squad that captured the Adidas Super 64 tournament in Las Vegas with an impressive 86-80 victory over DC Assault.

Against DC Assault, which was led by 6-9 Oak Hills Academy All-American Mike Beasley, Walker hit all four shot attempts from the field, finishing with nine points, four rebounds, and three assists.

In fact, Pump N Run’s string of ten straight victories over five days earned them an extra game, against Nike Main Event titlist Houston Hoops in a battle of shoe company champions at UNLV.

Walker scored nine points and helped limit Houston’s top player, 6-foot-9 Gary Johnson, to 17 points in a 103-86 victory.
“Both Gerald (who scored four points against Houston) and I have become comfortable playing basketball at the highest level,” said Walker, who has been with Pump N Run Elite for two years. “That can only help us when we play for our high school team.”

I can't imagine we get interested in many recruits that are also drawing interest in Yale, Princeton and Columbia......this kid must have a pretty high GPA. I like smart players on and off the court.

we're high on his list....

Cal Poly
Liberty
Montana St.

According to Scout: "I enjoyed Liberty a lot," said McLemore. "Coach Zack Jones used to coach at Horizon in San Diego and I know him well. I enjoyed the campus a lot and I like the players and coaches."

When questioned about his Cal Poly trip, McLemore said, "I really enjoyed Cal Poly a lot as well. The coaches invited me there with open arms and I like them. It's kind of a college town, which I liked. I got to meet all the players and hung out with them and other students."

Gerald went to my high school and was a freshman when I was a senior, he's been a starter for 4 years and he's a good player. Great range and outside shot. When I was home for thanksgiving I spoke with the Basketball coach at Scripps and he told me Gerald had mixed feelings about Liberty, and more specifically The Liberty Way.

He's obviously not the first player to have those mixed feelings. But hopefully he works it out.

Just tell him that basketball players aren't under the Liberty Way, that is just what I have seen....I am not knocking any player, so it is not a personal attack, a clear observation would bring you to this conclusion.

Well Dickens I have to agree with you, as a former football player, I saw many of the guys on the team get away with stuff that woud have gotten a regular student kicked out of school. Its the nature of athletics, the athletes will always have their coaches to fight for them. The problem I see with Gerald is that if it were to come down to Liberty and Cal Poly, Cal Poly wll be very hard to beat since all of us Cali kids love Cali.
