Not surprisingly, Kentucky Christian is really bad. How bad? 1-10 bad with losses to teams like Asbury, Point, and Alice Lloyd. Their win is over historically awful Montreat. Their 1 previous D1 game was a 40 point blowout by Morehead State.

What is surprising is that KCU's problem is not a lack of size. They start a 7 footer at center, and will actually be as big or bigger than us at every position.

My only game predictions are that Brendan Newton will have his first ever double digit scoring game and Darius McGhee will get a dunk.

These type games are worthless and almost pointless. IMO, they're just glorified practices, that only serve as ways to get your regulars to work out kinks, rest yoour regulars, and to get your deep bench some minutes. I'd prefer we play an all-D1 schedule, or at least schedule some D2 and local D3's. But I know. I know...

Won't most of us be watching the UVa vs. Tech football game instead that starts at noon? Go Hoos!

Maybe I'll make part of the second half of the LU game.

Without going into the reasons we play them, I'll just say that personally I enjoy these games as a fan. I have no problem with a blowout, as long as we are the "blow-outer" and not the "blown-out." I think it's fun to see our bench players get some run. In addition, both of these games are against like-minded schools, and provide a bit of cash for programs that are generally strapped for that commodity. It's also an opportunity for their players to have the experience of facing an opponent at a higher level.

It will be interesting to see how much "load management" Ritchie does here in addition to sitting Caleb. Unfortunately, Georgie and Darius, who have both been playing crazy minutes, will probably still need to play quite a bit because we are so thin in the back court.

There’s a reason LU doesn’t play Montreat anymore. While historically bad there were a couple of years there they were at least competitive Play Basketball

We win 88-42. Scottie with 15 and 7 in just 11 minutes. Josh Price with 13 points. Brendan with 6 pts 7 boards and 2 blocks in 10 min. He would have had the 10 plus I predicted, but somehow missed 2 dunks. Darius never got a shot at a dunk but scored 9 and had 4 assists. Nobody played more than McGhee's 22 minutes.

Trinity Baptist just might be a worse team than Kentucky Christian. 0-7 and lost to Stetson and N Florida by a combined 134 points.

Starters played a combined 82 minutes today.
Attendance listed as 2717. That's pretty remarkable when you consider our history of games against opponents like this when students are gone.

Probably so. Playing 3 games in 3 days in the Bahamas gave us a head start over the other undefeated teams.

Like you, we all know the reasons, but I too would prefer we at least play Lynchburg, Randolph, Hampden-Sydney, Roanoke, Averett, etc... over far-flung sub D-Is if we're not going to play an all D-I schedule.

rogers3 wrote: November 30th, 2019, 3:16 pm What are the reasons? I am missing the nonverbal cues!
The reason for playing non-DIs to begin with is because many of the major programs see us as a "bad loss," if they lose. Thus, it'll be incredibly difficult to get middle-of-the-pack P5/Big East/A10 programs to schedule us. The second reason is, since this whole quadrant thing started, playing the worst of the DIs actually brings our strength of schedule down more than just playing a sub-DI school like Jones University of Southwest Arkansas, the Little Sisters of the Poor, Blind and Deaf, Joe's Trucking School or Raphael's School of Cosmetology. The reason we can't get local non-DIs on the schedule is because they prefer to play at far-flung destinations for their guarantee games, plus some of the presidents of local schools NOT named U. of Lynchburg have animosity towards Liberty.

At least that's my understanding based on posts here in the past.

The first part of that is no longer true. The middle portion is probably 95 percet of the reason. The last point is reaching because we prefer to play smaller christian schools to throw them a bone rather than the locals other than maybe lburg.

These type of games do not prepare us for the tournament, if we make it. Other than Vanderbilt and LSU, our out of conference schedule is way too weak.
