With all of the mid-major teams knocking off the ranked teams, will LU be able to get a big win against teams like BYU, Oral Roberts, Seton Hall,ECU, and our Bracket Buster game?

i think we will. Once this team learns each other and dwight is playing, i think we become a good team. Brew will make a dramitic difference to this team

I don't see us winning any of the above games. So far we have not exhibited that we are a good basketball team. Early in the year I know, and we may yet be a good team, but I don't see it. Hope I am wrong.

I definitely think LU can beat ECU, though a CUSA member, they are pretty bad. WU beat them by 30 last year, and I think a southern conference school beat them as well.

Bracket buster game matches up like opponents based on wins and strength, so you should be facing a similar team and have a good shot at winning that.

I think Brew will make a 5-10 point difference. A big swing during conference games but not so much when were getting pasted by 20 plus points i.e. oklahoma. I don't think we will beat any very good teams, but EC and Seton Hall are probably not out of the question. Oral Roberts is good and I don't know about BYU. None of those teams are powers though.

Manger,
Gotta love ya babe, but your enthusiasm may be a little over heated. As I was watching the Maui Shootout/Duke/AF/Texas Tech/Marquette games, I noticed a lot of transfers. They were even talking about some of the above mentioned schools on our schedule. THEY also had transfers and from "power" conferences. So if you are playing cards would you take one big east transfer or 2 Big XII transfers or an ACC and Pac 10 transfer. Just because we have a transfer from a Big time school guarantees us absolutley NOTHING. We are not Hickory High School and he is NOT Jimmy Chitwood. He is a talent for sure, but that does not translate into wins especially BIG wins

It's going to be extremely hard for Brew to live up to the hype. People like Manger and some of the others on this board are hyping him to be the savior of this program. I'm expecting 20-25 points a night from him by what everyone is saying.

I am sure he could. But not sure he deserves Messiah status just yet. How is he gonna help with rebounding? Defense? Screens? If the team is not doing those things now, will being a 20 point scorer be the difference?

that's what makes him so good. not only is he a big time scorer but he rebounds really good, expecially his own shot. he's really long and good on D. even if he wasn't, he is really long so it's hard to get by him. his bball IQ will help the rest of the team on the court. and he's an emotional leader, he talks and communicates really good.

Never a good sign if your strength is rebounding your own shot. That would mean you must miss an awful lot!! Being long is nice, but what about that whole help defense thing? Is he gonna double double for us every night? Perhaps a triple double for grins and giggles. I am sure his addition will help, but am skeptical of it putting us "over the top"

actually, he doesn't miss alot. he's not the type of player to just keep shooting jumpshots if he's not making them. he can help us in more ways than just scoring. i actually wouldn't be surprised if he got a triple double. have you ever seen him play?

geez manger....i love your enthusiasm, but objectivity is not your strongest . you are too close to the team, so you are gonna defend them no matter what. agreed with haize no ones should get messiah status until they actually perform on the floor.

I would say that SCAR is way better than Dwight will ever be...At John Madden. Is that what we are talking about? Oh, Oh, you mean Basketball? I defer to the gentleman from Providence on this one. He will help Liberty a great deal. He is not just a scorer and he is a complete player. I won't give him "walking on water" status just yet but I will say that his presence will change the way people have to guard Liberty. He creates shots for himself and others when the offense seems to be out of sync. He is sort of like Woodson in that regard. Jones, Baker, McLean, Monroe, Porter are gonna have to be the guys to get this team over the top because we have had great perimeter play including last year. Interior weaknesses were glaring at times last season and if these guys don't change that (and I think they will), Brew won't be that big of an impact. I can't wait to see what happens though. I am pumped about tonight too.

How could it not? After notching an impressive win against NCCAA DII Jugurnaut that IS Cincy Christian. "Dont come into the CCC expecting a cake walk" I believe is their motto. That or "What Would Jesus Eat - Skyline"

Cincinatti Christian did beat NAIA div 1 Bethel on the road last week. Huge win for them. The Flames did what they should in second half. Jackson St beats Rutgers and Wofford beats Cincinatti. I just know we will continue to improve as the young guys and Alex gain experience/confidence. The guys played hard as Dunton's team have done. Smitty is going to have some great nights in the next three years.
Blair is Blair and Mclean will rebound.

Which Bethel? There are about 5 of them.
