If LU could be in any BB conference, what would you prefer?

If LU could be in any BB conference (or really, all sports except football), what would you prefer?
Feel free to make up a new alignment of schools if there isn't a current conference that is to your liking.
Assuming that FB remains independent, I'd love to see Liberty in the Big East someday. I'm guessing that might be a little too "northern" for some though.
Also, It seems like there is room for a southern (and less catholic) version of the Big East - southern private schools with a commitment to an elevated level of play.
Just curious. I'm new here, but sense that some aren't super in love with he A-SUN.

Oh - and I do like that the A-SUN has every game available on ESPN+. I just wish that the league was considered strong/interesting enough for ESPN to pick up a few for actual broadcast.

I would be all for the Big East for "all sports" but I think the ASUN is the best current fit for sure. The Big South was lacking in markets, and what LU lacks in market it makes up for in sustained commitment to athletics. I don't know that the Big East would work as well as the ASUN for alumni relations and recruiting outreach.

Should have said "newer" - joined during football season. But yes, thank you.

You’d surprise how many alumni lives in the northeast and Midwest. We would have to work on recruiting though since we mostly recruit in the south east/west.

I don’t understand the question. Real or imagined? ballcoach would love us in the SEC others in the ACC but that’s not realistic.

I don't want to go back to the Big South, but I noticed that Radford and Hampton were playing on ESPNU tonight.

The only reason the ASun isnt portrayed as very strong, and I'm talking all sports, not just Mens hoops, is the lack of stability in recent years. The addition of Liberty and UNA will go a long way for the future of the Conference.
Facts are, Basketball is okay, it will get better in the next few years.
Baseball will get stronger this year, last year was the 7th strongest conference.
Softball is 5th ir 6th strongest depending on what you read and what year it is.
I'm not that into the other sports so I can't offer much input.
But Stability is what the conference needs to exceed the current perception of the conference. Then you will see some other schools trying to join the ASun. Other than Northern Kentucky and USC Upstate, the only reason the others left was no football option. Now the ASun has one.
I like the current makeup of the ASun, but would add 1 or 2 more if possible.

Yeah, I was a little all over the place. I actually meant either real or imagined (build your own).

Barring significant realignment, I'd love the current CUSA alignment:
It may lack prestige but would give us some nice regional rivals and get us into better markets like Miami, Houston, San Antonio and Dallas-Fort Worth. U recognize not everyone here is as enthusiastic as I am. Of course having four teams within fours drive of my house has something to do with my zeal.

I think it’s a perfect conference fit for LU

We would bring the prestige.

Maybe they will realize that before too long and invite us straight up, minus the 25 million they could have had a few years ago.

Which 1 or 2 would you add?

A-10
It's such a good mid-major basketball league that we would immediately be competitive in, plus they don't offer football so we can stay Indy there. You've got local rivalries that could develop (VCU, George Mason, Richmond, GW), our Indy brethren (UMass), and several similar type private institutions.

The A-10 was always Doc's dream league back int he day. But the same issues then that exist now of Evangelical derision from the Catholic core will likely forever keep us out. Ditto for the Big East. But we can certainly all dream.

Some websites like theScore, the A-10 is considered a top league along the P5’s plus the Big East

We al dreamed, doubted and/or considered possibilities that we’ll make it to the FBS sooner than later(2+ decades), so let’s not throw the idea in the trash. Doc’s dream can go above and beyond. As the slogan that is posted inside the FOC states, B.E.L.I.E.V.E.

He also was apparently really into the idea of the Partiot League. Different time and different circumstances.
The A-10 would be fun for mens hoops. The rest of sports, I'm fine with the A-Sun.

There are many I would choose from. But if I had to pick 2, it would be College of Charleston and West Florida.

I think it would be a step down for CofC.

I refer back to Coach Scott Jackson's comments on Game On, recently. In the ASUN we go to some nice cities. Jacksonville, Atlanta, Nashville, Fort Myers, Florence, AL, DeLand, FL.
Much better than Farmville, Radford, High Point, Boiling Springs, Bluies Creek.
ASUN is good conference, until we go to all sports conference.

I am very happy with the ASUN for all sports except for football. It is nice to have a conference that appreciates Liberty.
The schools are in better markets and trying to get better.
