During its more recent 65-year existence, Swisher Gym on the Jacksonville University campus has served as a two-fold reminder to basketball spectators/visitors: a homage to the school’s distant past hoops glory and the need for a new facility.

While Swisher has undergone a few makeovers in recent years, including renovations to the hallway, floor, roof and basement locker rooms, it cannot mask the reality of being an antiquated structure in a basketball landscape where state-of-the-art arenas have become commonplace.

But at a small, private university like JU, with about 2,500 undergraduate students, funding for projects in the tens of millions of dollars is a huge challenge. An on-campus arena in the 2,500-3,500 seat range, which is about the size JU prefers, would likely be a minimum $30-40 million, depending on what amenities beyond athletic offices, fitness center and meeting space go into the building.

They would just love to beat us in that little gym! Hope the guys show up in force! It could be easy to overlook and focus only on Lipscomb but I think coach is better than that.

I look for us to come out strong in the 1st half and take control early. It's something we haven't been able to do lately and the sign of a great team which we are obviously becoming. Sometimes the road will focus your attention to detail. I think this one will be a decisive W.
It better be because if we are not playing our best going into Tuesday we are going to get beat. The other LU is no joke. Can't take a half off and win that one.

Is it just me or do we face everyone coming off a win?

If FGCU is Dunk City then Houston is Phi Slamma Jamma. This FGCU team bears no resemblance to the Enfield coached squad that went to the sweet 16. 40 minutes against us on their home court and the only one dunking was Scottie James.

This game makes me somewhat nervous. We should win by a dozen, but it being away and being the game before Lipscomb, I worry we overlook it.

ESPN gives us an 80 percent chance of winning, so it's not a gimme by any means.

Ive thought the same thing all week. Saw them in person. Only the 1 guard stood out. Decent rotational pieces and their main big gave scottie some trouble. Should be a 15 pt win but right before lipscomb, extra few days off and our uninspiring history in these type gyms leaves you with some doubt. However, this team haa broken molds all year.

As close as they played us in Lynchburg, I doubt they'll be taken lightly. If we had won by 20 or 25, I'd be much more concerned.

The team is playing too much one on one ball. They look best when they play unselfish and move the ball around.
