i just wanted to know becuase i was told that we can't play hip-hop instrumentals if the original song had curses on them. i dont see why you can't play an instrumental with no words on it.... its just stupid

It's Liberty. It's how things are done.
To create a good atmosphere at the games, the people in charge of music are going to have to get very creative, especially for basketball. Basketball is probably the hardest sport to create a good atmosphere musically at Liberty because of the rules on music so it's going to be hard.

Again, we've been down this road several times.
Liberty does not want to associate itself with anything that could potentially have a negative impact on the campus. There are plenty of good 'hip-hop' beats that are made by Christian artists.
I agree that the music played at games should be upbeat and something with a little bounce to it, but that can be done in an manner that distances itself from the secular world.

So... no Enya I assume. Unless it's the dance-hall remix.

Sounds stupid to me.
But I wasn't asked.
My freshman year at volleyball games they were playing Ludacris.

But as for the topic,
anything upbeat with Fire, Heat, Flames... something topical.

That's twice I've laughed out loud tonight.
As long as the lyrics aren't completely cheesy it won't be bad. We'll never make everyone happy though.
For example, I'm a punk/rock type of person. That's what I'd like to hear. I'm not a hip-hop fan. GMTM is a huge hip-hop fan and doesn't like what I like. Someone's always going to be complaining.

I don't want to hear Simple Plan, either, ever. I understand completely. I relate hip-hop to basketball. That's just how it is. I'm ok listening to some country at baseball games and I'm ok listening to some hip-hop at basketball games.

I beg to differ about the Keith Urban comment, but this isn't the place for that.
He's amazing on guitar.
