According to official CMU website, they stated Liberty as

"Liberty (21-14) opened CIT play with a 65-52 home win over North Carolina A&T on March 12.

The Flames finished fifth in the Big South Conference regular season standings with a 9-9 record. After upsetting No. 1 seed UNC Asheville in the Big South Tournament semifinals, they fell to No. 2 seed Radford, 55-52, in the championship game. Liberty is ranked No. 5 in the NCAA in free throw shooting (79.1%) and No. 9 in scoring defense (63.3 ppg). Redshirt sophomore forward Scottie James is the team's leading scorer, averaging 13.4 points per game.

Liberty is making its third appearance in CIT, advancing to the quarterfinals each year. Liberty has a 4-2 overall record in the CIT, with all of its wins coming at home.

CMU is making its third appearance in four seasons in a postseason tournament. The Chippewas have never faced Liberty in the history of the program."

Go Flames!!

This will be a good test for us. Looking over who they’ve beaten including in this tournament, these guys look to be a real good team.

Judging from their scores, they put ball in the basket. I believe they have scored 80 or more points in 19 games.

I don't think so, but I'm sure they have video of UMBC beating UVA and Florida State beating Xavier. It's a good defense, but the only team still dancing that uses it is 11 seed Loyola-Chicago.

Central Michigan's Keno Davis has one of the more unusual career arcs you will ever see. First off, he is the son of semi-legendary coach Tom Davis, who won almost 600 games at 5 schools (most notably 270 at Iowa). Iowa decided not to renew his contract prior to the 98-99 season, and that was his last there. He then took the job at Drake, and hired his son Keno, who was an assistant at SE MO St. after previously assisting his dad at Iowa. Tom retired in 2007, after 4 seasons at Drake with a losing record overall.

Keno was hired as HC, and his first year as a college HC was magical. Not only did Drake go 28-5 and represent the MVC in the tourney, but he was named national COY and became the hottest young coaching commodity in college basketball. His one glorious year at Drake was his last, and he ended up in the Big East at Providence. After one winning season there, things went south and he was gone after 3 years, ending up at Central MI, where he has been since 2012. He is just over .500 there with 1 NIT and 2 CIT bids. This year's CIT victories were his first post season wins at CMU. Overall career record is 174-151, but after that first season at Drake he is a .500 coach.

So they'll go down as the winner of the last Great Alaska Shootout? I used to love watching that tournament and its late-night games. Sad to see it go.

Just got this email about the game:
Tickets start at $10 for adults and $5 for youth. Students get in free with a valid student ID.
For the last game, I thought students and faculty got in for $2. Most students won't even be back from Spring Break yet.

Pretty sure I saw in the Flames Club email that faculty/staff were two bucks once again for this game.

What stands out for me is the RPI - CMU #168 and LU #211 and their 3pt proficiency and our issues guarding the 3pt line. Should be a good game and a good win for our program heading into next year Play Basketball
