GAME #1 - Cairn

Excited to see this season get started. Small school opponent should be a nice way to get ready for our two toughest games of the season next week.
Very interested to see how the starting lineup looks and what the rotations look like. Most likely to change throughout the season. Also curious to see with more talent and depth if Coach Mckay allows this team to play a faster tempo compared to last year.
My guess at starters for tonight.
Cabbil
Dawson
Kemrite
Homesley
Baxter-Bell
Gardner, Pacheco, Reid and Talbert brothers off the bench.

For the old timers, I think this is the former Philadelphia College of the Bible.

Exciting night in the Vines. Great to see a crowd like that against a weaker opponent.
Nice performance by the guys. We know the 3 ball is going to fly with this group but the unselfishness this early in the season was excellent.
Very surprised at the rotations and lineups but it's early. Did not expect to see 2 and even 3 point guards on the court together. Many times had Cabbil, Pacheco, and Chen out there together. 11 guys with double digit minutes. We played really small most the night. Expected more minutes from Gardner who was productive on both ends in his 17 minutes. Big season ahead from him. JTalbert showed he can make a difference inside which we will need in non-conference. Playing time is going to be different every game but the depth of this roster is very exciting. Great first game for the Flames!

Did anyone notice a Flames basketball alumnus on the bench as a graduate assistant coach?

After hearing his interview when he visited this past summer, I'm not surprised at all to see Alex back at Liberty He should be a great asset working with our big guys For a player who was probably better physically suited to play the 4, he made himself into a really good post up center who was dominant at times in the BSC
How about Ray Chen! If he can come close to giving us minutes like that against D1 competition, the decision to use that available scholarship to bring him here will be a stroke of genius As far as the small lineup is concerned, I expect that will change somewhat against opponents who have size as well, but I don't expect to see any of our swing players get much time in the back court

The younger Talbert was a beast inside, throwing down 2 monster dunks and grabbing 3 rebounds in only 10 minutes of action.

Here is the interview Nick did with Alex this summer Great stuff, and you can sense he was looking for the opportunity to be on the mountain again
