And Escobar is on campus! Liberty has a great shot at landing him as well. According to verbal commits, if Liberty lands him, LU would have one scholarship available for Newton. Assuming Barber is coming in on another scholarship due to his dad working at LU.

This is one where I feel like I just need to trust our staff's evaluation. Bradley is no powerhouse, but their program is certainly stronger than ours right now, and it looks like Scottie was behind some other young bigs for minutes going forward. The scholarship is there next year, but it's certainly looking like we will need to make more room if we want to sign the guys we want for 2017. I'm not a big fan of bringing in guys who have to sit a year and tie up a schollie, but if you are going to do it, a player who has 3 years of eligibility is the way to go.

Actually, verbalcommits correctly shows us with 12 scholarship players next year, and Escobar would make 13. Don't forget we already have a committment from Elijah Cuffee for 2017, and he is the real deal. We would need to open up 2 to sign both Cuffee and Newton. I suggested in another thread how we might pick up one.

If Escobar transfers, it would rule out Cuffee reclassifying and coming next year unless someone else leaves this Spring

Nothing is ever ruled out. Bottom line is your gonna have guys come and go every year. Bring in talent and things will work themselves out. If the last decade has taught us one thing it's that there's no point trying to figure out a year from now.

Keep adding talent, Coach! Excited to see this guy develop! He looks solid and he has a year to get in, add more weight, and work on his game. Just look at what one off season in our conditioning program did for Maxwell.

Things don't work themselves out. They are worked out. You can't just keep bringing talent in and assume players will leave to make room for them. You have to have a plan in place to meet the scholarship límit, and we do. It is a simple fact that if Escobar transfers to Liberty, we will be at the scholarship límit. If Cuffee is able to reclassify for the class of 2016, we would need to either ask him to go back to Poca for another year or open up a schollie for him. One option would be to withdraw Pacheco's offer. The point in trying to figure out what will happen is simple. It's fun  Speculation is the reason fan boards exist.

Really? Bradley has stunk the past few years... And this guy didn't get much playing time either... Like the way he plays in the video though - looks like he plays aggressive, which is what we need. But - it's a highlight tape - who would show bad plays on there;)

Agree - that's what this board is for... One thing I have learned - if a player can play - we will find a scholarship for him.

It is interesting that he didn't see more time on a poor team at Bradley but who knows all of the circumstances. The video is promising especially based on how he moves for a bigger guy and some of his skill set. Love that he attacks the basket. Definitely a contrast in the type of bigs we are getting like J Talbert and now James. Both pretty similar styles but bigs who move well and capable of shooting the 3. With this 2016 class and another addition like this, it sure feels like we are getting guys who thrive in a more uptempo offensive style - Barmore, Gardner, JTalbert, now James....we know McKay will focus on the pack line defense like Virginia but very interested to see if offensively prefers a little faster game. We walked it up so much last season. Hopefully that was out of lack of depth but with the roster we now have, it sure seems like a faster pace would better fit the style of our players than having to grind out 30 seconds each possession.

A bad Bradley team would still smoke previous LU teams.
