Personally, I thought he should; but I didn't know if he would by the BSC:

After leading the Flames to a top five seed in the 2016 Big South Championship, Liberty men's basketball head coach Ritchie McKay has been voted the Big South Coach of the Year by the league's head coaches and media panel. The announcement was made this afternoon by the conference office.

John Brown gets POY as I predicted. BSC voters seem to always go chalk on these awards and Brown played for the co-champs and was the pre season pick. Presby's Murray is the best player in the BSC.
COY is a different matter. It almost always goes to the guy who's team exceeds expectations most, so Ritchie had a big head start on the field, but he certainly deserved it.

Congrats Coach Mckay, well deserved. Really glad you came back to LU. Excellent hire JB. The Kool Aid tank is certainly full.

Definitely paying dividends already. I look forward to seeing our 2016 signees getting to campus this summer and getting into "the process"

He deserves it. Never did I imagine we would go into the big south tourney with a bye. Awesome job by him and great work by this team that has really bought in.

i feel somewhat responsible for this..I started the bring back McKay movement...Having my trophy made now as well
