Another chance to get better. Has to be the focus right now. Areas I'm watching for us to improve vs. Tulane.
Rebounding. Only 19 rebounds total last game and -15 margin. We are never going to be a great rebounding team with this roster but have to see improvement in this area before conference season.
Foul Trouble. Tough transition so far to the new rules and college basketball for the young guys. Hope to see guys adjusting to how the game is called and learning how to play with fouls.
Shot selection. Against Western Michigan, we shot 31 3's and only 12 two point shots for the entire game. Have to find a way to get to the basket and create easier opportunities on the offensive end.
Here's hoping the guys can clean up these areas and come home with their first D1 win of the year.

Tons of t/o's leads to a 17 pt swing
We go into the half down by 10

Yeah this team needs help... Soon too...
Dawson cant get in the lineup soon enough and Theo Johnson did us no favors getting thrown off the team....

True...but I have measured expectations for his impact once he eligible in a few weeks, as I'm sure everybody does.

In reality we will probably be underdogs to any D1 team given most teams have established lineups, more height, more depth, upper classmen and more experience than us. Our highest scoring avg player coming back from last year averaged @ 4 points a game. We may surprise a few teams but we need to keep expectations grounded in reality. Having said that, Dawson will give us a little more depth, experience (as a sophomore) and a scoring option and thus make us a little more competitive in BSC games. Patience is a great virtue at this point

In the post-game interview, Coach McKay said when they return to campus they will have a 5:00 a.m. practice on Tuesday.

In addition to suspending Johnson, Ritchie also did not renew the scholarships of David Andoh and Joe Retic for primarily non-basketball reasons. Johnson and Andoh in particular would have helped on the court this season, but winning this year is obviously not his top priority. He is thinking longer term.

I wasn't under any impression we were going to win a game this weekend. Division 1 games are going to be tough wins for this team.
Glad Richie isn't letting them off the hook for sloppy play though.

I wish I knew. He was by far our best returning player so it had to be something substantial

According to a couple of people who apparently know but are sworn to secrecy, it was actually not any one big thing but a bunch of little stuff which he was given the opportunity to address and did not. He is still in school at last report,

Theo did a lot of things that were questionable like hanging around the wrong people... It was no one incident, Coach McKay wants upper classmen who are gonna be leaders around Theo was everything but that... I'm sure if he could do it over he would have let Theo go with Retic and company. He's still at the school but he got moved out and doesn't live in the same dorm as the team anymore and has been pretty much told to stay away....

Not saying Dawson is a world changer but from what I saw heard and know, he will more than likely be the best player on this team (that's not saying much) but is gonna prolly be playing 30+ minutes a night the team needs someone on the wing who can keep a man in front of them.

Stat of the game today. Everyone not named Evan Maxwell (who was 6-8) shot a combined 2-14 from 2 point range. By contrast they were 8-19 (42%) from 3.
