Isn't Covenant an NAIA school? At least it used to be Summitt?

Depending on my TV schedule I would love to be there in Nashville for the tournament. I will only be 3 hours drive away now. I really hope ASN covers that tournament and I get to call some games there. Mercer (Jason Eaker), App State (Jason Allison) and Liberty all in the same place in one of my favorite towns? I'm all over that!

3 non division 1 games of the 1st 4 with a winnable game over William and Mary at home. Good chance to be 4-0 to re-start the McKay era. The Tribe lost Marcus Thornton so they will probably be not quite as good as the past few seasons. I really like Omar Pruitt though. He will be a preseason All CAA selection and a handful for the Flames.

VCU on Dec 27th would be a fun one to call too. I hope ASN gets it and they send me too.

I am not sure the teams and matchups in Nashville have been revealed yet. I don't even know where I read that App State and Mercer will be there and it could even change by the time the season starts but I know I saw that somewhere.

No offense, Scar, but what makes you think the William & Mary game is winnable? This could be a historically awful Liberty team.

Chris, do you believe this team will be worse than last year?

The talent is not great but the coaching is much improved. That alone should make this team at least marginally better than last season. Just my opinion.

I'm going to withhold judgment on that until I see some of the new players and how much they're able to contribute.

I think I´m going to get to see my first LU game in a long time on 12/29 at Notre Dame! While my schedule is not set yet this year, I am normally at my sister´s house in Bloomington at that time. I would also REALLY like to get to Lynchburg this year to catch up with some friends and see all the changes on campus in person, but I´m not sure if I can pull that one off. If I do, I´ll definately schedule it to catch at least one of those home games.

Expectations are going to be pretty low with this group, so having three of our first four against sub-D1 opponents will be a good chance to get this group a bit of confidence before heading out to Nashville. If we can be around 7-6 or 6-7 before the turn of the year, that is a good place to be going into conference play I think.

I think the number of wins this season will be disappointing for most. We probably should focus on progress of the team in learning Coach McKay's system and putting more butts in the seats. How does that happen with not many wins? Hopefully a more exciting brand of basketball and more coach and player engagement with the student body and community.

Everything is relative. I only live 90 miles from Puerto Rico, but it´s not particularly easy or cheap to get there. This is 200 miles on highways a lot better than what I´m used to, and you can drive it in something over 3 hours. It´s the best opportunity I´ve had to see a game in the last 4 years.

Good point. Probably not. Maybe about the same, if not just a tick better. Probably not good enough to beat teams like W&M.

Good point. Might I recommend listening to the soundtrack from Hoosiers during your trip? :D

This team will be better than people think the addition of,

Bradley- Senior Transfer brings experience and leadership. Does alot of good things nothing great.

Atencia - Solid Pass First Point Guard who can hit shots in transition and handle the ball.

Dawson- can play both guard positions, word is he is one of the "High Motor" guys Jesse Sanders was referring to in his interview. Played at Marquette, will be a bright spot on the LU roster.

Coach Mckay- came thru and cleared house (got rid of Retic and company) I dont think anyone misses him and knowing what kind of guy RMK is hes gonna wanna compete from day 1.

Cant wait till the season starts.

I actually think our schedule could be interesting before conference play. Trips to Princeton and Nashville to play in the Music City tournament could benefit Coach McKay's club before Big South play begins in January. The game at Notre Dame should hopefully give Liberty some momentum since it will be our last nonconference game of the season. McKay has been known for teaching and preaching defense, so I am expecting the Flames to improve from 8-24 to possibly around 13-18 or hopefully better. Home games against William and Mary and Lamar look attractive, but the Cardinals haven't been to the NCAAs since 2000 and William and Mary has never been. The Tribe lose Marcus Thornton (who was drafted this summer) and Lamar was 15-15 and missed the Southland Conference tournament a season ago. I believe that the schedule is a little stronger than last year. If the Flames play good defense and rebound (Liberty only has three guys over 6-7), I can see them finishing around 7th or 8th in the conference. If McKay can find ways to score, some unexpected wins could come our way.

Hope and optimism bound eternally with the new faces. Their enthusiasm is greatly appreciated.

Upsetting W&M would be awesome. Lamar is winnable. Only 3 months and 10 days till we see what we have on the floor.
