Rumor has it that he may have been on campus this weekend.

Not sure if he was on campus or not, but he doesn't look like he has either the skills or athleticism to play D1 basketball at 6'4". With that in mind, he has just committed to D2 University of Findley.

Actually ...

My understanding is that there may still be some hurdles for him to clear to make it on to the squad this coming year. But in the meantime, congrats to Myo!

He does look a little bigger than 6'4 but we're not going to confuse him with Anthony Smith - that's for sure. The first two guards McKay has inked to deals seem to have some upside but I'm scratching my head on this one.

Trust the staff, guys. I have heard from a couple of folks that he has legitimate DI talent but has slipped through the cracks for various reasons.

He did have another D1 offer, fron St. Francis of PA, but I would still be really surprised if he ends up on scholarship, considering it would put us 4 over the limit. My guess is a guaranteed walkon spot like Hoffman has. He had a retweet from another player about committing to the D2 school on his account, and I didn't pick up that it wasn't from him.

He reminds me of Brolin Floyd.

Can you post a link to video showing this kid has even a fraction of Brolin Floyd's athleticism? i haven't seen it yet. Also, Brolin is 2 inches taller and can shoot better than a 3 for 17 from 3.

I agree with Sly that we will need to trust the staff on this one, and if he was on campus, they would have had the opportunity to put him through his paces.

I didn't say he was as good or as athletic as Brolin, I just said he reminds me of him. A wing, with a big frame, who likes to play near the basket. If it works out, I could see him playing the same type role that Brolin played.

For the record, Charles Barkley admitted after he retired that he was only 6'4" (No, I'm not saying that is Myo the second coming of Sir Charles). :nono

A smaller Rell Porter is a better comparison, IMO.

Internet video usually makes a player look better than he is (remember Byron Faison?), but it can work in the other direction. If I were to make a comparison of Baxter with a former LU player based on what I have seen, it would be Asaad Woods. I can only hope he is a lot better than that if he in fact he is going to be a scholarship player and not a walkon.

In which case all the fuss about "committing" is pretty much blowing smoke. He not only will not be on scholarship, he won't be able to participate in any team activities either.

It sounds like Myo may end up as an Academic Redshirt, which is a new category. If so, he could receive a scholarship and practice, but could not play his Freshman year.

Kyle Getter had been recruiting him to come to Radford for 2 years (although they had not yet offered) and he did have 2 D1 offers before the academic issues emerged, so apparently there is talent there I couldn't see in his video.

That doesn't go into effect until August 1, 2016. So, Myo is not eligible for it.

After looking at another video Manson posted on FN, I would have to upgrade my assessment on Myo. He isn't going to wow you with his athleticism, but he's strong, knows how to finish inside and can handle it fairly well. He's definitely more than 190 lb. Looks more like 210+.

I really :dontgetit this statement from that link: " He will redshirt his freshman year to ensure that he is academically eligible." That makes no sense. Since the Academic Redshirt category doesn't go into effect til next year, he either qualifies or he doesn't. If he doesn't, he can come as a student, pay his own way, and possibly qualify after a year if he makes the grades. We have a couple of football players who have done it recently, and it is NOT redshirting. If he meets the qualifying standard, there is really no academic reason why he shouldn't play.

Since the clock starts ticking on his eligibility the moment he steps on campus, it sort of us is a redshirt by my understanding even if he is not on the eligible to be on the team. At least that is my understanding based on the latest intel I have on the rules. You still only get 5 years on campus unless you are granted an extra year.
