Over the last 6 years, out of 24 total coaching years on this 4 man staff of McKay, Soucie, Getter and Mance, 14 have been under Tony Bennett or Shaka Smart. Omar Mance has spent 3 years with Zach Spiker at Army, who may not be in those guy's league yet, but is a great young coach. Part of me still wishes we could have a Liberty guy as one of the assistants, but I like the staff a lot.

Olinger is a Liberty guy although he didn't play. He has been a part of the program since 2003 as a student. He coached under 3 different coaches at LU.

Is Aaron Schreiner actually apart of McKay's staff? When I was there, he assisted with cheerleading, mascots and I think helped with volleyball too.

Support staff like trainers and administrative assistants usually don't change with a new coach. Trainers work for the AD and are assigned a team(s) to work with. Schreiner now works with MBB and Golf as well as coordinating rehab and insurance for all sports. Strength coach sometimes does change, but with Tat having come to us from UVA, I suspect Ritchie will keep him.

And the AC guys make it official:

It looks like all the support staff remains the same, at least for now:

Hard for me to question any of these picks. We all knew Soucie was coming as soon as Ritchie was announced. Olinger obviously has been doing something right to have been on 4 different staffs at LU now, and gives us someone who has experienced being a Liberty student. I think of all the previous assistants, Mance made the most sense to provide both continuity and a smart. energetic young guy with a rep as a recruiter. Getter gives us another young guy with knowledge of the BSC and VA recruiting as well as having 2 years under Shaka Smart.

Not sure why it took so long, but the AC site finally confirms Henry Barrera as the new Strength and Conditioning coach for MBB.

Wasn't there talk earlier about getting a strength coach from UVa?

Met Henry and talked to Ritchie and the staff today on a brief trip to Lynchburg. Ritchie looked great in the Liberty Red! I was so used to seeing him in Orange and Blue these past few years. The Flames are in good hands. I like the staff they assembled!

Old news Cider. Our former strength coach, Soloman Tat, came to us from UVA. I may have suggested he would possibly be retained because of that, but I think they have a rising star in the field with the Barrera hire.
