I guess getting a W didn't raise the interest level much. The audio link on the AD website takes me to a feed of the baseball game and the livestat link isn't working for me. Anybody got an update?

I don't think you want to know the actual score, this may end up being IS the worst conference loss in school history.

Recap and box score in the local paper: http://newsadvance.stats.com/cbk/recap. ... final=true

No one in double figures, but Theo and Ryan had 9 points each.

According to Lang's Twits, DL only called 2 TO's in the 2nd half. Both when LU was down by 35 and both with under 1 minute to play :dontgetit He then went to the Coastal Bench and shook hands with every coach and player......while the game was still going on. The TO thing makes no sense, at that point you are just grand standing to appear that you are still engaged. And then walking to the opposing bench and doing that AFTER you called TO is just bizarre. :dontgetit

We can debate the etiquette of discussing a coach's job security during the season and going as far as calling for his removal. Perhaps that fair. But if Layer going to pull this crap, then he has that conversation coming to him.

The timeouts are just baffling. Sharing pleasantries with the other team during the game is beyond me.

:dontgetit So you call 2 TO's with under a minute to play. Do the early walk and then say nothing :dontgetit Obviously, he was trying to make a point about SOMETHING. But if no one knows what point you were trying to make, can you really make it?

Bizarre to say the least. Lang is the only person who I presume was at the game, so I'll ask if you noticed any signs that Layer has given up on this team? I can't point to anything definitive, but perhaps he realizes he can't win with this team and is just begging to be bought out of his contract? Either way, that was truly a weird thing that happened.

This is where the FlamesNation staff needs to work their sources. To be honest, this is like the most exciting thing about this team all year

My only question 'was Layer mad or did he think CCU running up the score'??

My answer if Layer was mad about that is simple;

It's LU job to stop Coastal from scoring, it's not Coastal job to stop Coastal from scoring' --

Toughen up. Stop celebrating like u won a championship after u beat Camels. This pics online are a disgrace, the ones at bottom of article on web site.

b b b b but our defense is so good!

Although I feel like the conversations about what happened with that timeout are warranted, I want to focus on something else that Lang put in his article.
“It’s tough, but they were obviously hot today,” said Liberty’s Theo Johnson, who tied for the team lead with nine points. “I think Coach even said it, that nobody in the country would have beat them the way they played today. We’ve just got to move on to the next game.”
This is really bothering. Even if you feel like they played the game of their life, you cannot continue to breed mediocrity by giving the team a pass. When you pride yourself on defense, and a team at this level scores 90+ points, it should make you sick. It makes me sick, and Im not even part of this team. You cannot continue to embrace mediocrity and the failure that you have built. The entire culture of the program is building losers... and its a shame. Im disgusted.

Agree with you 1000%. The question is, did he think they were running up the score or was he saying "we deserved to get our teeth kicked in. Way to go." Either way, it looks as if you were quitting and as bad as this season has been, thats been the only thing that hasnt happened: Officially quitting before the game ended.

To me it wouldn't be a big deal if he had not called the 2 TO's. If they were just dribbling the clock out or whatever, no big deal. IMO, the question to ask is why did you call those TO's? If you were trying to show your team etc you were still engaged you wouldn't have had any TO's left because you would have called them all when it had a chance to make a difference.

This was the most embarrassing game in our school's history. I'm tired of the "Layer is a good guy/leader" BS. Layer sucks. There is no reason in the world to not give him a pink slip on Monday. You let coaches that have had a positive impact on the school finish out a season. But when a coach embarrasses you like this, in a season where his arse is already on the line, you can him. Let one of our assistants take over for these last few games. We can't get any worse than this.

Replay is on WatchESPN.

Looks like the last 6 or 7 Coastal possessions had shots in the first 10 seconds, albeit with scrubs. Either way, the whole ordeal looks ridiculous.

For all the people gung ho about canning coach Layer immediately, I expect nothing less from you than dancing and celebratory gunfire should it happen (since you'll have gotten exactly what you wanted).

There's a difference between wanting something to happen for 'the greater good' and celebrating turmoil. There really is no middle ground for you is there? Unless you count cliche's and platitudes
