This is a huge mistake IMO. This game actually has a chance to be competitive. The casual viewer could tune in and see two evenly matched teams and say 'hey Liberty's not that bad'. It would blunt some of the We are awful thoughts by them at least.
Very poor decision.

Haize, don't you know our admin doesn't care about basketball?

It doesn't mean I can't hope.....

Actually, it tells me that MBB is sooo bad they are afraid to put the product on the air. They are less confident in our winning this game than our friend ROOSTER!

I wouldn't go that far. Our admin has elected to be a football school, and now that we've gotten football pointed in the right direction and have done all we can do to pursue FBS membership, the ability to focus on basketball has not been there...I think we'll see the admin make a major decision in regards to the program after its done.

What has the admin done since Layer was hired to prove they care about basketball?

Practice facility. Although to your point they may have mistakenly thought it was a new court for the teams to play on

Fair point. Though what sport hasn't gotten a new facility in the past 6 years?

Soccer still has the same field...

But that's precisely my point...just b/c its not a top priority, it does not mean they don't care. JB had to find a replacement for Rocco and McKay after both left, we've added swimming, lacrosse and field hockey, dropped wrestling, saw top of the line facilities added for nearly all sports (including football stadium expansion), oversaw a study for FBS feasability and pursued (in futility) FBS conference affiliation. I have a feeling that now that things have settled down we will see some personnel actions taken to improve our men's bball team.

JB has focused on basketball when just running an athletics department was all he had to do (not oversee a massive multi-million dollar expansion of facilities and pursue FBS affiliation on top of that)...he got rid of RD (Jeff Meyer) when the program was disconnected from campus (and losing outside the Big South), brought in McKay then Layer.

Thanks for proving my point. If success in MBB is that far down the list, they don't care. "Hey, we'll fix that when we have time." You don't say that about things that are important.

My work in government has told me that there are things that are ALWAYS important...but then there are things that come up that are MORE important...and that there are priorities among the priorities. Football will always be top priority, and with all efforts focused on getting us to FBS over the past few years...then that leaves less resources to fix our #2 sport.

Plus, lest we forget, a hot run to the Big South tourney title and an NCAA appearance two years ago fooled everyone.

Didn't fool me either.

In fact, I said that making the tournament had a slightly negative effect. From the Big South championship win until that game against NC A&T, all you heard about Liberty sports was about being the worst team to make the field.

From what I understand from SID's and others at the Big South Tournament last season, LFSN is not exactly liked by the rest of the league. Many of the schools have chosen not to let LFSN broadcast their game with Liberty which I think is a huge mistake. Any time you get your program on TV is it a good thing at this level. But I know for a fact Longwood, High Point and I believe Campbell won't let Liberty broadcast there anymore. Radford let LFSN in the past few seasons though and VMI used to but of course they are in the Southern Conference now.

I can understand the other schools not liking LFSN, it makes them look awful. The LFSN student crew will occasionally watch other schools' broadcasts and laugh at how bad they are. Longwood is one of the worst offenders, that camera work last baseball season made me dizzy and I had to go audio only for that whole series.

I was about to ask of we're sure this is a Liberty admin decision.

And if the admin doesn't care about bball, why not let Dale stay at least through end of contract? Not his fault totally they aren't performing; admin hasn't supported like it should! If that's what you're saying....

I stand corrected. But I'm sure we could have slipped them a few thousand to broadcast it

Scar isn't exactly telling the full story. As most of you know LFSN came to Willett two years ago for that crazy game in the 100s. LFSN requested to come back to Willett last year but under the condition that they (LFSN and Liberty SID) would get full control over the scoreboard, clock, etc... Why would anyone ever agree to that?

Money? Of course, are you surprised they would do this?

Is that normal for sport broadcasts from National networks? I honestly have no idea.

You at least need access to the scoreboard to make the bug. The scoreboard and Chyron computer have to be connected so the scoreboard clock and clock shown on TV stop and start at the same time. I don't know if all graphics engines have that limitation but Chyron does.

I know they need access but I find it odd they would need to control the scoreboard. Could it be Longwood was confused by the request?
