It's GAMEDAY! And, interestingly, Bluefield's coach is Richard Morgan, who used to play for UVa. Lang's article in today's paper says that Gielo is still out, and Theo will be starting in his place. For those of you still in town, it's a 2:00 game with the ladies playing at 7:00.
Layer said Thursday that Gielo is out for at least a couple of more weeks, with the Flames seemingly hoping to have the 6-foot-9 forward back on the floor for the Big South opener at Campbell on New Year’s Eve...

The player tasked with picking up much of Gielo’s slack is Theo Johnson, a College of Charleston transfer who wasn’t even deemed eligible to play this season until the middle of October. Johnson scored 11 points and grabbed two boards against St. Francis, and he’s an athletic presence who can get to the rim.

“I feel like the next guy up has always got to be ready,” Johnson said Saturday. “You never know when you’re going to get your shot. I didn’t know this was going to happen, and I’m going to make the most of it.”

We lead 15-10 midway through the 1st half.

30-26 at halftime.

The most effort I can give towards caring about this team is checking the score of the game on ESPN.

If we blow this game, someone else needs to be the HC for the rest of the season....

We win 79-61. Peter Moller had a breakout game with 22 points. Drew Smith a double double and Retic 10 assists.

LU BBall Instagram:
Flames improve to 3-5 with a win today over Bluefield College #goflames
Ethan Layer response:
4-5 get it right

Is it just me or is that kind of pathetic? For one, wasn't today technically an exhibition? So, it can't actually count towards the record? Secondly, is he really that insecure about this season that he has to correct the official LU BBall account?

I don't know. Probably nothing but that struck a weird string with me.

Ethan Layer just needs to shut up and sit on the end of the bench.

I can see where you're coming from, but I think you might be reading into this too much. Honestly, I think Ethan was just giving him a hard time. Ethan's been around the program for 5-ish years so he knows the guy who's in charge of the account personally. Nothing more, nothing less.

Game was an exhibition for Bluefield but a regular-season game for Liberty.

Wow. We're all about trying to find stories where they aren't. That comment was a dude make a sarcastic joke to a buddy ribbing him for making a public mistake. It wasn't hostile at all.

But if you only count D 1 wins. That's what is truly pathetic

Those 4 non D1 wins will really help pad the record this year.

We were up by 5 with 10 minutes to play against a team that lost by almost 50 to William & Mary.

I'm starting to think the basketball program might be in trouble or something.
