To me Coastal is the best team in the Big South. Josh Cameron and Warren Gillis are tough at both ends of the court and both are willing shot takers at big moments. Coastal is athletic, long and well coached. High Point is up there too because of their NBA prospect John Brown. I like Asheville as a wildcard capable of beating anyone but also losing to just about anyone in the conference with the exception of the bottom two or three teams. I haven't really seen enough of Gardner-Webb and Winthrop yet but I also think Radford will be in the mix at the end. Big program win over Virginia Tech even though they are way down this year. I like Charleston Southern but they live by the three and are a little too guard oriented. But they will win a lot of games with Will Saunders giving them a third scorer to go along with Arlon Harper and Saah Nimley.

There's been a clear line set already between the contenders and the pretenders. Top 7 are contenders and bottom 4 are pretenders.

I would have Campbell 8, Presbyterian 9, Longwood 10 and Liberty 11. I truly believe that loss to St. Francis and the loss to Morgan and the lack of ability to get to 70 and barely 60 is telling. Plus Gielo is week to week now so he could be a question mark going forward.

It's splitting hairs. PC is 0-6 against DI competition. Campbell is 0-5 against DI competition. That's why they're at the bottom.

Longwood & Liberty is tough to choose from. Each have 2 DI wins, but both are against teams at or near 300+ in RPI.

You guys are so negative! It means a couple of great things
1- We can oh get better
2- Now that NJIT beat Michigan we can have an easier time scheduling games with D1 schools
3 - All we have to do is win the Conference Tourney and we are going to the Dance
4 - We have been ranked this low before or at least close to it. Which means we have experience on our side!

The sky isn't falling

For what its worth, Gardner-Webb is at 35 in that report w/ a SOS of schedule of 3 and a 2-4 D-I record. Coastal Carolina is at 130 w/ a win over an SEC school and a winning D-I record, CSU at 229 with the same scenario and Presby w/ no D-I wins is at 329.

Therefore, based on the fact that SOS is overweighted in this formula, I give this ranking little weight.

Well Bob's School of Trucking, Ralph's School of Cosmetology and Jones University of Arkansas haven't joined the league yet.
