SJ that's the kid that went for 40 on Liberty last year. I think Liberty this year has to start beating the Furman's and Morgan States of this world. The Delaware win was good but to be honest that UD team is in MAJOR rebuilding mode right now. That's unfortunate for my man Monte' Ross too because he has not gotten a contract extension from the new AD.

I'll be tuned in tonight on MASN! Go Flames!!!

We should have beaten them by more. Furman looked atrocious. The lineup of Retic, Theo Johnson, Gielo, Smith, and Andoh played very well together. Theo looked better in extended minutes. Retic had 10 assists and 5 steals. Andoh with 14 points and 12 rebounds. He's a great player, extremely athletic. AC Reid and Kemrite did not look impressive at all.

Most of the time on offense we have 3-4 guys beyond the arc. I am old school and don't understand this at all. Very boring, hard to watch for me. Hope we have a good baseball team.

That's really the standard offensive set these days - most programs are running a 4-out because they simply don't have the muscle to run anything else. However, Layer's offense kills me to watch and always has - it's nothing but ball screens for 20 seconds and then hope someone bails them out with a 3 or a quick score in the post. There is rarely anything going to the basket.

Lets just be happy we won a game we should've won.

As Troy pointed out in the FN article, our biggest problem this year has been turnovers. It absolutely cost us the Morgan State game, and possibly VT as well. While Retic has had some high turnover games, he handles the ball a lot, and at least he is getting assists as well. The real problem seems to be with our bigs. Smith, Andoh and James Johnson have a combined 56 turnovers with only 9 assists, and they really don't handle the ball much. It's just sloppy ball, as exemplified by a play against Furman when Andoh got an offensive rebound and instead of gaining solid possession before making a basketball move, he lazily flipped it while off balance in the general direction of Retic, but over his head for a backcourt violation. It was ugly. David has done some very good things for us, but he needs to tighten up, as do Drew and James. Gielo has done a bit better, but still has a negative assist/turnover ratio, which is bad for your 3.

As far as Furman looking atrocious, let's give a little credit to our defense for that. This team's length and athleticism is going to cause problems for a lot of our opponents on that end of the court.

TO's really kill you when you run a deliberate offense like we do. The more up tempo the more TO's you can live with
Also, you can live with TO's if you are creating them on the other end

TOs are bearablw with an uptempo offense, unless you can't get the ball in the cup on the possessions you manage to hold onto the ball.

I was at the ODU women's basketball game on Sunday and I lost count of how many shots were missed by the home team

Apples and Oranges.
Missed shots don't have anything to do with turnovers unless you count them as such. Which would be odd. You would correct TO problems differently than missed shot problems

What I am saying is that I agree that when you are playing a faster paced offense, turnovers are not as much a bugger unless, the times you actually keep the ball, you don't get anything out of it. If you have say, 50 possessions, and you tur the ball over on say, 20 of them, that leaves 30 with at least two shot attempts.

If you play a faster place you will also generate more possessions so even by your interesting logic it still apples and oranges. I'm not even sure where the 2 shot attempts comes from

Then you've got incredible offensive rebounders. Fire away........which again has nothing to do with TO's
