We trail 25-23 at the half. Shooting 10-16 from the floor, but 14 turnovers have killed us. That's right, 14 at the half. Sounds like a stat from our women's team. Morgan State is 0-5. This would qualify as a REALLY bad loss if we can't get it done in the second half.

Gielo and Smith both sat a good part of the half. No foul trouble and they were a combined 4-5 from the floor. 3 turnovers each though. I guess Layer wasn't happy about that from his senior leaders.

LU takes the lead in the 2nd half (10 minutes and change left).

There is nobody at this game. You can hear every word folks are saying. That's a tough environment to play in. Feels like a closed scrimmage. I hope Liberty can win this one.

When was the last time we had no one score in double figures in a game?

LU is down by one point and is going for the last shot with 21 seconds left.

I don't know how to feel about this team. They look like they could make some noise in the big south but something is missing?!

The last 12 minutes of the second half that I caught was pretty brutal. Poor shooting on both ends of the floor. And how many LU turnovers?! I bet close to 25. That and scoring 50 points is not a recipe to win. Morgan State is baaaad. Delaware is winless at 0-4 and getting crushed, so that takes off what little shine there was.

We lose 51- 50. After taking the lead on a dunk by Drew with 12 seconds left we let their guard drive the length of the floor for a layup with 3.4 to play. Moller gets a decent look at the buzzer but misses.

Telltale stat of the game: Retic with 8 turnovers and only 4 assists. We need better play than that from our PG.

Same old basketball program. haha we got optimistic for about a week only to be shown a dose of reality. Unfortunately layer is what his 20 years of coaching wins and losses said he was before we made the hire. Its sad because he is everything you want but he just can't get the program on the right track.

We need an assistant coach who can act as a de facto offensive coordinator. Think Ritchie at UVA.

Or we can just get a new head coach

Big South seems to be improved around the league too. High Point, Coastal, Winthrop Asheville, Radford all seem to be better than last year. Watching UNC Asheville now hanging tight with South Carolina on the SEC network. Campbell was getting blasted by Ohio State on Big 10 network. Rowsey with 7 threes made so far for Asheville.

I have Charlotte @ Asheville on Sunday on American Sports Network.

Yeah, he wouldn't have helped us at all. Sure glad we didn't pursue him

LU offense isn't designed to score points . It's designed to milk shot clock.

But it all goes back to recruiting . How many real D1 players do we put on floor ?

How many real scorers do we put on floor. ?

50 points is pitiful if we had played some ACC team. 50 against an 0-5 mid-major is terrible .

Andrew Rowsey had absolutely no interest in coming to Liberty.............. none. If you want to rip our coaches for not banging their heads against that wall, go right ahead. I'll admit my info is second hand, but it comes from bballfan84, whose sources are about as inside as you can get. I know how you feel about recruiting local talent. Hope you are pleased that we were the first to offer Brendan Newton, who is wisely keeping his options open, but by all reports would LOVE to attend LU, whether he played basketball or not.

L
ill go with my information but enjoy being frustrated. The point being there were several on this board and ON STAFf who did not think this kid could play at this level. This in turn makes me question who is evaluating talent on the team. So it's not just one kid, its a symbol of what our program is at this point in time.
And you are correct I'm glad we offered Newton.

I saw Rowsey play in high school . He could have played for any BSC school . he can light up scoreboard .

our recruiting isn't good. too many role players . we need a couple of super star players who can take over a game .

Reminds me of that one game against Coastal a few years ago.
