Blue/White scrimmage

Blue team won by 3 with Gielo leading all scorers with 27 points. I'm encouraged by the fact that this game was really close in spite of the fact that 4 of 5 starters played for the Blue. Retic played for the White team with Maxwell, Andoh, Theo Johnsom and Kemrite. Moller ran the point for the Blue with Gielo and Smith at the forwards, James Johnson in the post and Reid at the 2.

"Oh and by the way, the blue team (Gielo, Smith, Johnson, Moller, and Reid were starters) won 75-72 in a fairly tight game, if that means anything."
What it means is we do have depth. We will have 4-5 quality guards - Retic and Moeller will start, Reid, Johnson and Kemrite will mostly play the 2 or 3 especially in Johnson's case if they go to a smaller lineup. Layer and Hoffman can provide brief moments of quality play at PG but will be hard pressed to see action. Andoh will play the 4 mostly - so the rotation will be J. Johnson, Andoh, Smith, Maxwell rotating in the 4/5 slot.
This is what I saw.

Well thats good, the starters beat the reserves... not sure we would want it the other way around.

Unless you were a reserve!
Using the logic of depth advocated by some it really only shows that there is not a great talent gap between our #1 player and #12 player
Having said that, this team should play a lot looser since there are no expectations and hopefully locker room issues have been resolved

Thats not what he was saying at all, the Starters didnt beat the reserves. The teams were split between starters and reserves.

4 starters played for the blue team with Moeller at point. Only Joe Retic played for the white team. Moeller will move to the 2 and Retic will be the 1, Gielo at the 3, Smith at the 4 and Johnson at the 5 when the season begins. The fact the blue team (with 4 starters) pulled out the win shows the depth and talent of this team and the subs will push the starters to get better.

I didnt Realize Moeller was slated to start. I was thinking Kemrite would start at the 2.

Projected starting lineup:
Retic
Moller
Gielo
Smith
Johnson
It will be interesting to see how deep Dale goes. I could see any of the following receiving playing time consistently: AC Reid, Kemrite, Theo Johnson, Dave Andoh, Maxwell. And that's before getting to guys like Ezra Talbert and Ethan Layer. It's unusual for Dale to go 9 or 10 deep.

I can see Talbert getting a redshirt and maybe Dambley or Hoffman since PG playing time will be hard to come by with 5 potential PGs.

Yeah it definitely makes sense for Talbert to get the shirt. Same goes with Dembley and/or Hoffman.

Isn't tonight (Thursday) the LU version of Midnight Madness? If so, who's going?

Yes tonight. It's a combination Midnight Madness(11:30 pm) and Halloween festivities. Mrs. Chippy and I will be fast asleep by then

Overall it went pretty well. Not a bad crowd for a Thursday night, my only complaint was it was a little shorter than I expected.
