Here's our gameday primer -

I'm in SC right now, and plan on attending the game and providing coverage if I can get there. Not much snow, but we got a sheet of ice and they don't have much in the way of snow removal equipment here.

Be safe Manson. I will be at the VCU/Fordham game tonight but I will be watching or listening on the internet. Liberty as a school is 9-0 in that building if you combine men's and women's record.

Thanks Scar.
I just got an update from Coastal's SID on road conditions near campus for those wondering..."Roads are covered in ice but drivable at a slow rate of speed."

I am not able to go to the game. I don't trust Southerners driving in the ice down here. I have been chopping over 1" of ice off my driveway during my lunch and breaks. I live 20 minutes NE of CCU and we had about 1hr of freezing rain, 7-9hours of sleet and then more freezing rain last night/early this morning. Some is melting, and I'm trying to get it off before it refreezes as black ice tonight. I'll be watching online. Might be a good student turn out since the dorms are 100ft away.

When Alan York makes a call for a made shot by the opposing team, you would think by his excitement it was a Liberty goal.

Liberty lost a MBB game? Shocking...
Sorry for the cynicism, the pain no longer stings, it's just a constant dull feeling of "yep, we lost....again"

I'm certainly not trying to pile on here, but I expected to lose this game. Another tough, close game but in the end another one in the 'L' column, again. Wish we could have pulled it out. Hope we can beat Chuck So., they are sliding but so are we.

Well, in all fairness to the team, it can be a little disconcerting to travel down there expecting to spend time on the beach only to find out you have to stay cooped up in your hotel. It really throws off your pre-game preparations and makes it difficult to adjust

I heard somewhere going into last night that teams are shooting close to 76% against Liberty in the last 5 minutes. I didn't see the ending of last night's yet but I will watch it for myself via the Big South Webstream archives, but it seems like turnovers on the Liberty end and tough shots being made by the other team when it counts, have been the difference. High Point, Longwood, VMI, Furman, Coastal have all come down to the last possession. Only the VMI game finished with a Flames win. It is really good to be in these close finishes but it would be nice to win the majority of them so you feel like you can perform at both ends in key times during the tournament.
I will say it now just as I did last season this time: This team is capable of winning it all again. All this nonsense I have been reading about not having division 1 players is hilarious to me. This team has talent. This is the deepest and best front line I have seen at Liberty since I was coaching back in the 90's. There is no Aluma on this team but there are some big bodies that deliver when they get the ball. Throw in 2 preseason All-Conference guards that basically shot Liberty to the NCAA tournament and the elements are there.
I know it is extremely frustrating to fans, players and coaches to keep coming up short in these games. However, I don't think the sky is falling just yet. I wouldn't want to play this team in the 1st round of the Big South Tournament. They will be a tough out again. I still would love to see a winning record this season and there is still time to get hot.
Go Flames! Beat Charleston on Saturday!

As for Alan York, I think he needs to tone down his excitement on made shots, regardless of who makes them. Just call the game as is. Personally I liked Jerry Edwards a lot more than York, to the point I rarely listen to games anymore, I just tune in to get score and time remaining.

I don't think anyone is questioning the talent of the front court

you also hate music at football games so at least you're being consistent w/ your established baseline.
by the way, it's 2014

I am "old school". I think too many athletic events have turned into "dog and pony shows". It's this way most everywhere. But I have yet to understand why all the music at games. Play national anthem and school fight song, let that be it. If I want music I'll go to a concert rather than a game.

That's funny. Those are the two things that you had to listen for 30 minutes to get from a Jerry Edwards radio broadcast.

Scar while your loyalty is appreciated and understood, your observations sound like Rachel Maddow & MSNBC commentary on President Obama's SOTU address. A year ago LU went 2-10 in non-conference D1 games prior to BSC play then go 6-10 to finish 10th....this year with seniors LU was 3-9 in D1 games and are now 3-4 in BSC battling a wounded CSU team for 10th place. After Saturday LU is half way through the BSC regular season. Maybe the plan is a repeat performance of 4 wins in BSC tournament. How can this program with it resources not be a top three team in the BSC?
