For those making the roadtrip, the locals tell me this is the place to eat in Farmville (BBQ & seafood). Anybody ever been? What's the food like?

I will be there on Wednesday although we aren't doing it on TV. This actually like a home game for me cutting my drive in half. I'm sure I will see the FlamesNation.com guys there too for this one. I'm ready to witness history. I only played there one time and we ALMOST won my soph year but I want to be in the house when Liberty finally beats Longwood in Farmville. I hope this is the year!

It's awesome. I don't eat there very often, but I've never had a thing there I didn't think was really good. Even the fish, and I pretty much hate seafood.

I remember that game, Scar. It was my one and only time on that campus. This was long after the Kersey years. I remember we had no business losing in that dumpy HS gym that even made ours look like MSG.

It was a pretty intense game too. There were a few fan flare ups that I am sure you remember Sly, involving a banner on the wall that was ripped down by some Liberty students and stomped on. It was wild. Willet Hall is a lot nicer than it was back then but it is not exactly the Vines Center.

Wow! I assumed that gym had long been retired. It was tiny and that night it was jam-packed. Glad to hear it has received a makeover.

I would have assumed we would have won at least once over there back int he old Gordon vs. Kersey days in the Mason-Dixon Conference. Perplexing. This needs to end now.

Last time I was there, RD was still coaching--and we lost that game, too. It's a high school gym, and the only seating is BLEACHERS.

Eric Gordon's time at LU overlapped Jerome Kersey's Longwood career, but the real head to head battle was Kersey vs Cliff Webber, and it was something to see. Kersey did not have the perimeter game he later developed as an NBA star, but he did have the edge away from the basket while Cliff used his strength and a wide array of post moves to give Jerome all he could handle inside.

Great memory, olldflame. Cliff was drafted by the Celtics right as I was headed to Lynchburg for my freshman year.

Cliff had elbows and knew how to use them. I remember watching him and Kersey mixing it up in Farm ville.

I would be shocked if Liberty wins by 14 Manson. Will you and/or Duke be there tonight? Longwood seems to be able to score almost at will in Willet Hall. They are not very good on defense as you documented. They always play well against Liberty and their fans will be loud and rowdy. It is a hostile environment that I hope the Flames are ready for. I am really looking forward to this one tonight though.

Wasn't my prediction but Troy's. No I'm not going to be able to make it. Would love to but with the snow and a weeknight it's not feasible.

Their idiot of an intern wrote that.. I wouldn't believe a word of it. :D

In all actuality, my theory is that we will either pull away down the stretch and take the crowd out of it or we'll succumb to it and do our turnover thing and lose or have a dramatic victory. I went with the former because I think we'll respond after letting the High Point game slip away.

We'll see what happens. Go LU!

From Longwood Gamenotes:

THe SeRieS
Longwood and Liberty have met 27 times since 1977-78, and the Lancers lead the series,
18-9, including 13-1 in games played in Farmville and 12-0 in games played in Willett Hall.
The Flames only win against Longwood in Farmville was back on January 15, 1978 in a
game played in French Gym (84-72). Liberty won at home last season, 74-47, on Jan. 22,
while the Lancers also won at home last year, 102-101, on February 19. John Caleb
Sanders had 20 points in the Flames win, while Tristan Carey had 40 points in the
Longwood win, which saw the two teams combine to score 118 points in the second half;
61 combined points over the final 4:54, 55 in the last 3:46 and 34 over the final 1:54.

Looks like they are 12-0 in Willet Hall not 11. Also it looks like Liberty won in Farmville in the 70's but it wasn't in Willet Hall.

It's interesting because Liberty's game notes has it at 11-0. I also went through the history book and it looks like 11-0 to me.

I am just astonished that Willett Hall was a step up from another gym.

http://www.libertyflamesnation.com/the- ... /#comments basically what started this was the Lancers Blog guy posting in MidMajorMadness.com that Liberty basketball players were so unhappy with coach Layer that they asked fans to not attend games. As far as I know, that is not a bit true, and Parks himself said that he did not take much stock in the source (yet it was reliable enough to post anyway??). He is no stranger to taking shots at the school via twitter or Lancers Blog ( http://lancersblog.com/2014/01/22/sande ... lynchburg/ ).. After FN posted FlamesFans comments where Parks claimed to be an LU supporter, this started a debate in the comments...
