Got smoked by Hampton, not sure the way you want to go into league play... Radford had some success, are their players mature enough to handle it....

Their only quality win in their first 15 games is against the boys from Dunk City (and they have a first year coach), MAYBE NC A&T (who we lost to in Dayton last year). We've had recent success there, but we have not won a genuine road game yet this year so itll be interesting to see how we handle ourselves

Our first two conference opponents, whom we face both on the road, are unbeaten at home.

Another small factoid, Radford and VMI are the only Big South teams with winning records entering conference play.

This one is being televised on all the usual outlets: Liberty Channel, MASN, ESPN3, Bigsouthsports.com...Coach Jones told me at media day back in October that he really is tired of losing to the Flames. He has yet to beat them. There was a time not long ago that Liberty had very little success in program history down in Radford but that court has been good to the Flames the past few years.

Liberty won the last game of the season down there and played extremely well before going on a run to the Tournament championship.

Pierce/Scarborough - TV
York/Nazigian - Radio

Be sure to tune into LFSN!!!

Good to see my man from Sugar Land, Texas is in the forum. Looking forward to seeing how the Flames do vs. Radford after a strong outing last game.

Welcome to the board, RettPxP. Actually the only poster from Sugar Land on the board is formerplayer and he hasn't posted in quite awhile (although we need to get Jesse posting). I represent the Houston contingent most of the time. Scar just dreams of being a Texan some day.

I get teased for saying Sugar Land at least once every broadcast for the past 6 years so Rett was aluding to that I think. Everyone knows I represent Philly all the way all day.

Rett welcome to the board my friend!

Sly is just being his usual humble self: he actually represents the Lone Star State from Texarkansas to El Paso, but his home base is Houston. :woohoo

I must admit I missed my opportunity for that line when Hans hit the three on Saturday! I must have been thinking about driving home to watch the Eagles playoff game that night...that turned out well :(

It's what you get for not trusting me!
As a Colts fan I enjoyed my night!

This thread has me thinking. I wonder what year was the last time we didn't have a Houston native regularly in our starting lineup? I believe Jesse received the baton from Ant. It has been quite awhile. Perhaps Kemrite can earn his way into the lineup next year to keep the streak alive.

What's the Houston list?

Stephon Leary
Phillip Ward (?)
Anthony Smith(?)
Chris Caldwell
Jesse Sanders
John Caleb Sanders

Sly, fill in the rest and correct any errors.

Is Rell considered to be from "Houston"?

Re: Game #16: @ Radford in Big South Opener

No, Rell was from East Texas. I don't remember where Ward was from in Texas. And you were involved in the Austin kids and and of course there was the San Antonio guys like the Days and Baird. And GOAT was from Dallas.

Anthony Smith grew up here in Houston in the Clear Lake area by NASA before he moved to Dallas to finish up HS.

Chad Donley is a Texas native but went to HS in Florida. I'm not sure where he is from in Texas but his family comes out strong every time the Flames play a game down here.

Sly, are you forgetting the most famous Texan of all--Rob Attaway??? Play Basketball

If we are talking about the whole state then we left off Nic Wright, Christian Rios (RIP), Gabe Caldwell, Seth Dickey...I know Hanky had some perhaps besides Rob Attaway and Chris Caldwell but that was when I was a program "outsider" so I don't really recall.

Back to Radford for a sec.

It looks like every one of their 5 losses were by no less than 13 pts. Most of their wins are by solid margins too except for the Florida Gulf Coast game (1 pt) and the Binghamton win (6 pts) Every other game has a 10 point or more spread.

also Harry Williams..Phillip Ward was def a Houstonian...played at Houston Christian Academy. I was a couple years younger and still in junior high when Phil was playing in high school but my school got into a huge brawl with Philliip Ward and his team, i mean bench clearing and stands clearing..IT WAS AWESOME.
