They will always be SMSU to me. It looks like they like to get up and down the floor!
I also know of a certain poster who was recruited by them....

This is the school the western members of the Sun Belt have been trumpeting as a potential expansion member instead of us. Their FCS football program is abysmal. But they have always been strong in hoops for both men & women.

Come on now, we're ranked ahead of 7 teams according to the latest ESPN RPI rankings.

RPI is less than useless at this point in the season. Seriously, they have Longwood 154 and Kentucky 170. Yet Longwood's non-conference RPI is 310 and conference RPI is 157, and Kentucky's is 42 and 2, respectively. I can't comprehend ESPN's fuzzy math there that determined Longwood has a better overall RPI at this point.

I realize this. I was making an attempt at humor. My apologies.

Heartbreaker

MSU played without two starters one being their leading scorer.

Cor-a-nada from the free throw line! Hes the most offensively challenged player since the infamous rashad robinson. This is pathetic, time to check out and wait for baseball season folks.

All you need to know is Coronado missed 3 free throws with .08 sec left when we were down by 2.

Coronado does a lot of things well, shooting is not one of them. So if he was shooting a 3 it makes you

It also makes you think if THAT is what we were relying on, we were in a heap of trouble.

Did he intentionally miss the third one so they could try to get a tip in to tie it?

Does it matter??? Let's be real here folks, defending Tournament Champs, lose 1 starter, return 1 stud (Burrus) so basically everyone is back and can't be any better than 1-6. Football 6-4. = 7-10 so far.
What a shame, let's buy new uniforms!!!!

BigSouthKing, It's not really fair to say football went 6-4. If you're not going to count the D2 wins, then you should also not count the FBS losses...so really it would be 6-2 against FCS schools under your "some games don't count" system.
Carry on...

I realize that at this point you're just trolling and hoping for a reaction but come on man you are making yourself look worse than normal with your posts. I am not sticking up for the start the basketball team has had because it hasn't been nearly what I was hoping and is much of the same with a Dale Layer team, but this team got hot at the right time last year and even though it was a ton of fun and I enjoyed every second of it it probably did more harm than good as far as realistic expectations for this team. They still do not have the talent to compete with the best in the conference and coaching is subpar. Those were the same problems last year but they worked hard and that reflected well on the coaching staff and players and they overcame and won the conference title. This is Layer's year to prove he deserves an extension and so far he hasn't shown he deserves it. It sucks because he really is a great guy, just not a good head coach.
I have no idea why I typed so much...

Is he really? There is another player on the team it seems always gets a pass, but has been absolutely awful this year against D1 competition. Compare his stat line to Coronados last night. JR was 2 for 3 from the floor. He was 1 for 7. JR outscored and outrebounded him in fewer minutes. If you haven´t figured it out, I´m talking about the player everyone loves to hype............. Tomasz Geilo. So far hype is about all there is.
Add me to the list of those who expected more this season. MO State is a good team, but down 2 starters we should have beaten them. We lost the game at the line, and it wasn´t just JR. We all know he is free throw impaired, but we shot 4 for 15 as a team and lost by 2. That´s a tough pill to swallow.
Oh BTW postie, Layer already has his extension, but that doesn´t mean he is secure. We all know LU can afford to dump 2 years of his salary if the situation calls for it.

Watched most of the game last night. What a disappointing way to lose. There really hasn't been much silver lining. Wonder if it occurs to the program that they're begging people not to show up for home games?

You mean their evil plan to lose games for fun isn't working?

I do believe they are trying to win, and just not quite getting there yet. Last night was a huge improvement and there is plenty of time for this team to still be really really good. Stay on board. But if you fall off, you can come back on at tourney time like a lot of folks did last year.

You are correct, I'll chill out on the football team record. 8-4 it is, Co-Champs it is. Carry on....

Let's blow off 4 months of the year, for a possible lightning in a bottle tournament week again... What a joke! In the history of LU hoops (D 1 era) how many times has the program overachieved during the season. Maybe 1 year. Underachieve and win the tournament should be the motto. #trolling or #truth
