Yes, I am a hater of RD. He has not done anything to belong here. He won a conference championship with 2 key players, and a bunch of role players. The likes of Ryan Mantlo, Sneed, and Glenn Turner go further than the any of the new guys. Dunton is just flat out a bad coach

Normally i keep my mouth shut, but for those who know me that can only last so long. Dickens......first you need to be drug tested and cleared of your Mike Tyson lunacy. Second you need to open you eyes and realize that to make statements you better be able to back them up. To make a blanket statement " Dunton is flat out a bad coach" you need some good reasons, one down season isn't good enough. Everyone has a down year, were you even here for the Hankinson years???, if not dont' comment further until you have actually seen the bottom. 35 people in the seats and Rob Attaway ( who was told not to shoot ) starting is far worse and headed in an entirely different direction than RD teams.
" He won a championship with 2 key players and a bunch of role players" - what do you expect 5 superstars, who now play in the NBA? Winning a championship is winning a championship on matter who is on the team. I don't know how this can be a negative, it shows they were coached well, knew what role they played and executed. So the problem is?
I could go on and on here, but without first knowing where you are coming from i won't waste my breath just yet.

Suffice it to say there are those on campus who are not on board with the program as it stands. Many of those have personal connections to current & past players. Are they biased in their viewpoints? Probably. But we don't run a Communist regime here where no dissenting viewpoints are allowed.
That said, I think the shots on RD are weak. I think he's doing a terrific job considering the circumstances of the last few years (i.e. injuries, the Dees transfer, Elijah flunking out). Have some of his recruits not panned out? Absolutely. But that is the case at every program from Duke to UCLA and everywhere in between. Its all just a matter of relativity. With the talent we now have on the roster, we have the potential to be players for the league title once again. Obviously things have to work out just right. But its not beyond the realm of our possibilities.

Coach Dunton has earned a free pass on last season. He's done too much for the program and the university. Honestly, how many times do you hear of thuggary or a bunch of rift-raft around his team (can't say the same for Mel's regime)? A clean program, good citizens, and a 2004 and 2007 championship. Who can ask for more? Get off the haterade, people.

When I sit back and think of every successful team in basketball, I think they could be defined by the above phrase. I'm not sure what this proves if it doesn't prove the opposite of what you were saying.
I actually used to think RD was somewhat questionable when it came to actual in game coaching. Over the years I would have done a lot of things different and looked for different combinations on the floor. But after having watched last year when we did not have a very talented and or young team, I was amazed we were actually competative in most of the games we played.
Anyway, I find that you have very a very large manhood to question him based on his track record to date. If he has a decent year this year I don't see how anybody could.

last season the average margin of loss was 16, not including our 41 point loss to Winthrop.....I am sorry I use facts to back up my claims unlike you guys who praise Dunton. I WANT TO WIN, WITH OR WITHOUT DUNTON

Love him or hate him, we need to support our COACH, whoever it is. You support the coach, you support the program , you support the program, you support the students (unless said coach has a proven track record of futility and tries to cover themselves by getting their agent hired as AD---then all bets are off).

I think that this year's team will hopefully make up for the mess that we had last year and for the most of the year before. I think that Coach Dunton deserves the chance to at least get the program back to what it was 3 years ago and hopefully can improve on that in the future even with us being in a weak conference and all. Based on the recruits he is trying to bring in I think that the effort is there.

I'm used to seeing freaks on this site, and they do have their right to state their donkey views, and I support that right. What pleases me this time is to see most of the guys standing behind coach
(of course with the qualification that he needs to get the job done). So, if whoever in the dickens is writing just wants to win, regardless of who is coaching, and if we do win this year, then he should be all smiles in the off season. I'll wait and see ....
Sure appreciate this freedom of expression... How you guys all doing? What about that football team?

Wow! A blast from the past with grm! Its good to see you back on the board.
Coming off the disappointing season its not surprising to have a few malcontents on the mountain. But winning cures all and a nice rebound this season is what we all are hoping for.

Wow sooooo much to add here, sooooo little space. Suffice it to say those who think Dunton is a bad coach have legitimate facts and reasons without going into the on court performance. And those that think he is a great coach have facts to back them up on the court as well. My biggest peeve is the flip flops he likes to pull. When the first round of assistants came on board (Doesn't Bob Davis look like a dark haired version of Captain Kangaroo, Chuck Martin as Mr Isuzu guy?) he said that they were the best assistant coaches in the country and not just because he said so but because Coach K among others said the same thing. Yet a mere two years later they were THE cause for the lack of progress in the program. Now he says THIS group of coaches are the best in teh country. Judge, I am going to need a ruling on this.
Now talking about look alikes:
Anyone know Jerri Porter's husband? The man is Darius Rucker's lost twin. (Go Hootie, Go Hootie)
Jaime Hall as the "Boy" in the animated dog/boy show The Professor and his Boy
SCAR - Denzel ( Or Notorious B.I.G I can't decide)
Jerry Edwards Voice - Harry Carey around the 3rd inning (love BOTH those guys)
Purple Haize - Bob Incredible or Drew Carey
Hmmmmm

Living on the hall with the men's bball team, I honestly question what Dunton thinks he's doing recruiting...thats all I'm going to say about that (and no, I have no personal beef with any of the guys). However, that is not to say he doesn't know how to coach/teach basketball...it was more than just Mantlo and Martin who carried us to the 2004 championship...Dees and Blair (Dunton recruits) were freshmen that year, and we all know who ended up with the MVP trophy when everything was said and done (sorry KK, its not who your record books say).

How bout Haize as Jim Belushi with blond hair

You were right the first time with me. Much more Denzel than Biggie. I have been told I look like Bonds but I pray to God my head never gets that big. That cabesa is mucho Grande.
