While Griner´s combination of length and athleticism is unique in the women´s game, there are high school boys her size not good enough to play D1 college ball who can run faster, jump higher, and are a LOT stronger. There is a reason no woman has ever sucessfully played basketball against men past the 6th grade or so.

I'm in a Facebook group called Basketball MIndzzzz. It was started by my good friend Keith "Mr" Jennings formerly of ETSU and the NBA. There are a bunch of former/current college and pro players/coaches/media etc. many of which you would know.
The question was phrased something like this: Could you beat Brittany Griner in your prime? My answer is I think I could beat her now! I would destroy her in my prime. She is LONG and pretty skilled as well but realistically is not explosive enough, quick enough or skilled enough to guard me at 22 or 45.

i actually find questions like these hilarious and offensive. at the end of the day she is still a women...i know this comes off as harsh but we are stronger faster and generally more athletic. I could smoke her in my prime and I could smoke her easily now.

We all know that SCAR had/has skills; the bigger question is could Griner take the former pro player known as Purple Haize to the hole? Could she DUNK over him and make him

?

I avoid silly discussions like this. But if I were single and 20 years younger i would have no problem going 1 on 1 with a certain Blue Hen!

It's her maiden name!
Also, Mrs Purple has 8 years on me....not that I ever bring that up or anything.

It's pretty obvious that the poster who did this is just someone trying to stir up nonsense.

And I'm treating the thread accordingly.

Yeah I married her in spite of that distant relative thing she has with you....And you could be in trouble in MRS Purple ever reads Flamefans. I didn't even remember the difference between you two. I had her being younger (see I'm trying to help you buddy).

So do the Age guessers at County Fairs and Amusement Parks. It's an easy win for us
Considering she laughs at what I put on here because I'm typing while watching TV i feel pretty safe!

I think many of you might be able to handle Griner. But I doubt many of you could handle EDD. 1-on-1 is her game.
She's a more complete offensive player physically and skill-wise than any other woman to play the game. EVER. To my memory, only Parker or Jackson comes close. Only problem with EDD is she doesn't play much D. Her defensive plays are only made because of her length.
Griner is a more impactful player; Elena is a more complete player.

Mrs Purple and I were saying we would take EDD over Griner if we were picking teams. But we are crazy like that

JK, Cheryl Miller had a better skill set than Elena and anyone else you can name in your lifetime. She was basically Reggie Miller playing women's hoops. She could beat Reggie one on one well into his HS career from what I have heard. I think Parker might be a little better than Delle Donne and I would take Diana Turassi over Delle Donne and Parker.

Ill give you Cheryl Miller, but Parker's skill set wasn't as complete as EDD. And Turassi? Really? She's good but not at EDD's level. EDD is a pretty complete player. She is tall, rebounds, has handles, hits the outside shot and has a post game. Im not concerned about her apparent lack of defense because she's not asked to check someone 1 on 1. Plus, she is going to make a truck load of money because she is the most marketable WBB player since.....ever.
