No offense to Austin Peay, but how did they get in a bracket buster game with their record ? Now granted, some may be saying the same thing about LU.

ballcoach...
The Bracketbusters event is designed to showcase the conferences not associated with the "power six" plus programs like VCU and Gonzaga. If they only focused on teams that the folks at ESPN felt certainly could bust brackets, it probably wouldnt be a two day event like it is now, itd be more like one or two games (maybe three) on a Saturday

Had ball with 30 seconds up by 3, we double dribble and they hit a three to tie. We had ball with 20 seconds and all we get is long 3 pt attempt. No wonder we lost to Longwood.

Yeah. But look at who we played. They are a bracket buster team that has a chance to win their conference tournament. It will only help us come BSC Tournament time.

Sorry for the snark PA and krh...when I saw him talking about not knowing how to win and then see that we hadnt folded up in OT, I figured a witty retort was in order

It sucks that we didnt win it in regulation but Im glad that instead of folding up and letting AP roll over us in the extra session, they picked themselves back up and got the win. Its also good to see us get our first BracketBusters weekend win on our fourth try. Now to see if we can slow down VMI on Tuesday night

18 boards for Coronado! I believe that matches the best efforts of John Brown and Alex McLain. I think the LU record is at least 20 and goes way back. Maybe Ed Vickers.
OK I should have checked the media guide first. Ace actually had 19 in a game against VMI, which is the D1 record. Both Vickers and Willard Deshazor had 23 rebound games.

Toward the end of the game when Speaks was in foul trouble, Coach Layer went with 3 bigs, which really seemed to work--Gielo, Smith, and Sommy (and sometimes J.R.).
That's the first time that I've seen 3 bigs in an LU game since BEFORE McKay--back when RD was coaching!

They've done it a few times for a few minutes but they were playing a triangle and 2 with Davon and JC on their two shooting gurads and Geilo at the point of the triangle. At the end and in OT was subbing O for D by calling TOs after made baskets and TOs. Speaks would come in for Geilo or Smith when we had the ball.
