This is going to be a real challenge. Cal Irvine gave UCLA all they could handle, and UCLA just beat JMU by 30.

I am planning on being there on Monday. I wish the start time wasn't 5pm local time.

Beat Nevada by 10+ and nearly beat UCLA? Hampden-Sydney (where I work) alum Russell Turner getting it done early at UCI!

Turner is considered a rising star in the profession, shuk. And coaching in the Big West is intense.

I'm thinking about making the drive down on Monday. If my boys are enthused about the idea, we will probably do it. It may be my only opportunity to see the team play this year.

Let me know if you do. I plan on being there for all three games (Mon-Tues-Wed) if I can work out the details.

not sure how I feel about this game

Would love to get 2 wins in the 3 games, but I feel like the SHSU game is the only really winnable one right now. UCI hasn't been very good over the last few years, but it appears that they're improved so far this season. I'm more interested in seeing if we get any changes to the starting lineup and the minute distribution. Continued good play from Coronado, Speaks, Marshall, Smith and Roberts would definitely be encouraging.

Irvine just signed that 7'5" kid that had been in the news quite a bit the past 12 months.

Manute Bol could only dream of having that athleticism. His height will give him an opportunity to play in the league someday, but he will need to learn better footwork. This video was like watching a dad playing against 12-year old boys on a 7 ft goal. He only needed to exert a little effort to dominate.

How long until the kid has feet, ankle, or knee issues? Seems like that is the destiny of every 7 footer these days...

Watching this kid play would be fun, as he does show some athleticism. I have to think though how could he can really be to be that huge and not at a top tier program. I also agree with wildcats...I only see problems for this kid injury wise in the future.

Mark Eaton? Hasheem Thabeet, Roy Hibbert, JaVale McGee, Gasol brothers thus far. Shaq didn't really have any problems until he got old, and then I'd chalk the issues up to age as much as anything else.

Eaton had knee issues. Shaq had foot issues his whole career. Not having knee issues is the exception not the rule.

I believe the story on this kid is some kind of pituitary gland malfunction and that he may well go blind.

he is at his current school due to the fact that the sponsor family/community/school could provide him the medical care that he needs.

kinda sad story actually. I don't think the future bodes well for him.

Sly, are you sure you have the right conference listed? The Lynchburg paper says they're in the Big East.
