As noted Season Series tied 1-1 (CSU won 81-76 in Lynchburg and LU won 75-74...and made Sportscenter...in North Charleston)

Yes. Advantage Flames. It will be the first time we played them in a non modified HS gym!

I remember an odd stat from 2004 and even 2005 that whenever these 2 met in the Big South Tournament, the winner of the game went on to win the whole thing. Even in 2005 these 2 met in the 1st round and Chuck South ended up in the final game before falling to a really good Winthrop team.

Maybe last years first round upset by HPU will provide some resolve to not experience an early exit. Flames should win.

I still say this smells like a run. Everyone sees Asheville lurking in the Semi's and I do to, but I still think this team can handle just about anything right now. So much fun to watch!

That certainly is a possibility...1994 we lost two games in February and didnt lose after Feb 21 until the UNC game

Anyone planning on the trip to ashville?

I found tickets to the Biltmore Estate on Ebay for 10 bucks. I might make a day out of it.

They beat us at home and we beat them on a miracle shot at their house. We can win but this is by no means a gimme.

Both teams are coming in red hot. CSU has won 4 or their last 5 and Liberty 6 of their last 8.

Charleston Southern is a team that has my respect this season. I don't think that Wednesday's matchup with them is going to be easy. It will likely be another close battle and dog fight.

As for the next round in the semi final, if Liberty advances, I am really struggling right now to think of us (Liberty) "winning" in the UNC Ashville matchup. It is going to be a giant of a battle. Of course, I hope we win. I just think that we are going to need every Liberty player playing perhaps the best basketball of their lives to take down UNC Ashville at home at UNC Ashville on Thursday. I am not a UNC Ashville fan. But they have a very good team.

Does anyone recall the 2003 BS Tournament semi game when Winthrop's successive dynasty came to an end in a upset loss against an underdog UNCA team at the Vines Center. Could have heard a pin drop. I am praying that God opens up a monumental window of opportunity here for LU to squeak through and shake things up a bit.

I would be elated if Liberty made a prolific run through the Big South Conference Tournament. February has been a great month for Flames Fans! A month ago, I would not believe us to be the # 5 Seed at the end of this regular season - a month later. I expect and hope to see Jesse Sander's play some awesome basketball in this Tournament. I hope he can be controlled in play and not play desperate. I just hope that Tournament "W's" can be accomplished with everyone on the team stepping up. I would be so happy for Jesse if Liberty found itself in the Big Dance in 2012.

Go Flames!

We "should" win? Why? They are the higher seed. It's a neutral court. We lost to them in Lynchburg and won on a miracle shot in Charleston. Both teams are playing well recently. Yeah, that sure sounds like one we can put it the W column.

Of course we know exactly why you said it.

So what about all of the players that are Christians in the other team or at that school? Why shouldn't they invoke the power of the all mighty for victory? Is God any less God if this 'monumental window' is/isn't opened? Does God even care who wins or does he care more about how His name is used and glorified? I even think there is a Commandment about His name and vanity.

Carry on. :D

I enjoy the FF board for the purpose of getting news and being informed about Liberty sports.
In turn I will occasionally make a comment, post, or reply.
I work a lot and I don’t have the time to play word games or argue petty semantics with people on this board in terms of my posts.
Enjoy your soapbox.
The focus tomorrow is Liberty beating Charleston Southern.
Go Flames!

The grey three point line looks tough to see in that photo. I hope JC Sanders gets a shoot around in there. Long Twos are awful.

Saying you are praying to God for an LU victory is not petty semantics. I'm sure a lot of Christians prayed for victory over the lions

But you are right. The focus tomorrow IS beating Charleston Southern

I think you may be reaching here, Haize. The wording libertyfan4life used doesn't imply some divine ordination of our victory. It only implies that they wish for us to have an opportunity. Let's save that argument for another thread.

" I am praying that God opens up a monumental window of opportunity here for LU to squeak through and shake things up a bit"

Not sure I'm reaching. The only way that window gets open is if Charelston Southern loses. Which is what he's praying for. I would personally prefer a solid shooting percentage, good defense and low turn overs to win the game then some divine ordination. And I haven't even mentioned what would be implied if we lost AFTER asking God for His intervention. Or what happens AFTER we beat Charelston Southern? Do we have to ask the Almighty once again to show His providence by bringing us victory yet again? And then what about after THAT? Sorry, I don't have many pet peeves but even insinuating that God gives 2 hoots about a victory in a situation like these is one of them.

On a practical note, we REALLY need to find someone who can keep their PG out of the lane.

What? I said we need to figure out a way to stop the PG penetration? See I'm fair and balanced! :D
