Saturday's listed attendance with the top ranked BSC UNCA Bulldogs in town 2368. VMI hosted Winthrop and had 3665 in attendance. Even Campbell University had 2318 in Buies Creek, NC for their game with PC. The Furnace is flickering.

from someone who was actually at the game (me!) the number on the jumbotron last night was like 4,700ish. that's a huge difference. if there is one thing to NOT complain about last night, its attendance.

+1 I definitely looked like we had 4,000 people there. The atmosphere was the best we had this season.

What a dilemma. Believe people at the game or someone with an axe to grind quoting a notoriously faulty source of information?

truth, your agenda is tired. VMI had a basketball alumni day which is always well attended because it brought back the old timers for the keydets glory days which we all know they love to talk about. Campbell had a mens/womens doubleheader. If you want to raise an agenda, how about calling out the students to show up more? they are inside so there should be zero excuses for its too cold. the bottom line is winning cures all and it has been proven when we when the attendance numbers go up. Maybe sports marketing needs to do a better job, and put more effort into basketball like they do football. the guys are playing hard, they are simply undermanned. I hope Layer gets another year with a full deck to show everyone what he can do. Do i agree with everything he does? no, but instead of bashing why not bring some solutions to the table?

That is the key. We win on a regular basis students and others will begin to show up more often. That is how it was when I was there and it doesn't seem like it has changed. Yes, if they put as much effort into basketball, marketing wise, as they did with football it would help a little but we all know the best way to market yourself is to have a good product. Football has a good product, so therefore there is more support.
I am not sure why that is a tough thing for some people to grasp but I guess bitterness does amazing things to blind people.
Then again I am just a kool-aid drinker, what do I know??

I go to all the games and I was guessing 2500. 2368 may be accurate. It would be nice to start having the Vines fill up a little more. It did get loud on sevearl occasions and it would have been great had we wn. Nonetheless, we "showed up" and played with a lot of heart and can't ask anything more from the team or coaches except for the ball to go in a little more often

I watched the game on TV and it didn't look like 4700... 2500 looked more like it.
This a dumb argument anyways...

Winning does "cure all". But I do not see LU winning anytime soon. Face it folks, we do not have a good team. Almost every team , if not all that come into Vines Center are bigger and more athletic than us. We need to recruit and sign better talent.

Bigger and more athletic does not always translate into success.

If we don't get bigger and more athletic, we will never have a winning record again. Our current offensive/defensive schemes are not working and will never work.
