Get a split on this trip and it is a big positive start to conference play.

They certainly have some fire power.

We've got to have someone step up to be the second and third scorer. Minaya is going to stay around 14-16 a game all year but we need someone else to produce. Sparks has shown some potential and JC has been hot and cold. We know that Jesse is going to hover around 10, 8 and 5 all year but somebody has got to step up and score.

We are not having many turnovers so the shooting 26% 3fga and defense (opponents shooting 48% and 38% 3fga) have got to be improved for success. Conference is a new start.

These Camels are extremely talented and anxious to show the Big South they are back and ready for business.
As truthorconsequences points out, there is no doubt we have to improve. Doing it on the road against a veteran team that has made some noise already this season will be a real challenge. We need to get past our disappointment over JB & Sommy and create some energy with the guys we have on the floor.

How many walk-ons did we send down there to play?

Rumor has it that BJ suited up to play the 4.

Only down by 2 so far. Not bad.

45-41 Campbell at half. Campbell started to pull away, but Liberty reeled them back to within 4.

Close but no cigar....I think that's going to be our motto for the season.

Where has this been from JVP? 20 points and 9 boards on a night when Jesse, David and Tavares werent shooting all that well

We laid down our swords in the second half and UNCA won 66-60.
Don't look now, but that crowd in Rock Hill went down and beat the Calvinists on their home floor tonight, and we get WU here Saturday....ugh, we've got to learn to play 40 minutes, not 20.
Your MASH unit ensemble played respectable in Camel country tonight...I wish you luck in beating the Cheating Sea Chickens in their high school gym on Saturday.

That's the problem though. One guy always contributes, and nobody else does.

What are we doing giving up 96 points? I thought defense was Layers forte

We really have problems. Does it seem like expectations are no longer a factor for mbb?

Clearly, the silver lining on this cloud was JVP's production. 20 points and 9 boards in 22 minutes against a quality opponent is impressive. Hopefully the Carter McMasters/Russell Monroe comparisons can be put to rest.

Why did we have our 6'11" center (when we have "no depth") play only 22 minutes in a conference game when he's putting up 20 and 9? And "foul trouble" isn't a legitimate "excuse."

JVP is an aggressive hustle guy. Those guys foul. He had 4. How is that not a good reason? And why are you asking for reasons when you don't accept them?

also, is he really listed at 6'11"? ha!. I'd say 6'9" tops.

Why would foul trouble NOT be a legitimate excuse?

Im with Purple on this one...why wouldnt that be a legitimate reason for limited minutes? Id rather he have good production in limited minutes than play 35 minutes, score 6 points and foul out in the second half
