Lehigh wins 90-80. Flames just had too many defensive breakdowns. Flames had 5 players in double figures, JC-18, Minaya with 16, Jesse with 12 ad 10 assists, speaks with 11, and burrus with 10. LU out rebounded a bigger Lehigh team 36-31. Hopefully we can beat the Tribe tomorrow.

Man, LU teams under Layer don't give up 90 points. But then again, they don't normally score 80 either.

We dug ourselves too deep a hole tonight. They got hot when we went ice cold

I mean (as blatantly obvious as this sounds) that their shots were going in when ours weren't

The injuries have just killed us. Losing Brown, Ogukwe and Geilo early means we erased any bench depth we might have had. With Vander Pol looking more and more like he'll be a non-factor this year, we're basically 5 deep with Jesse, John Caleb, Speaks, Minaya and Burrus.

It's going to be a long year.

One minor positive tonight was the 5 points and 1 rebound out of Baird in 7 minutes of play. This squad needs more out of the post so that the pressure isn't always on the perimeter players. EKU and Lehigh are going to be quality mid-majors, so being scrappy/competitive with both is a good sign. Getting another win over a banged up W&M would be great as those wins will likely look better as the year goes on and W&M gets healthy.

I was listening to the William and Mary game tonight and they said he is dealing with a sore back so that may have to do with his struggles early on this year

I REALLY like the lineup with Speaks in instead of Vander Pol. We're shorter, but so much quicker. And Coach Layer said in the post-game interview that Speaks is probably his best defender.

With Burrus's shot blocking and rebounding abilities, he's a poor man's Charles Barkley.
