Interesting list of home court winning percentages:

http://rpiratings.com/homecourtrec.html

LU comes in at #209

RU impresses at #66

All of the BS teams at least have a winning record at home.

Duke at #22. That should shut some of you dookheads up about Cameron Indoor being the toughest. Although I think there should have been a minimum games played on some of the teams. Like Gonzaga has only played there 31 times. That shouldn't really count.

I think this more accurately describes how good your program has been in the conference historically.

Think about who each team plays. Cupcakes, Big South Schools, etc. Duke brings in LEGIT teams, not to mention the ACC schedule.

What?? Please tell me you are joking. Duke has never played anybody but cupcakes outside of the ACC and the ACC/Big 10 challenge. It's a smart strategy when you have a strong conference SoS. Also Kentucky was like #3 which contradicts your point anyway.

LUconn, look at those stats a bit closer. duke has lost 142 games in 67 years at cameron, that is pretty darn good. of the schools above them only UCLA, kentucky, indiana and kansas could rival a real home-court advantage over the years. and your arguement of a weak OOC is not really true b/c duke has traditonally played at madison square garden for their yankee fans, and have played in the pre-season NIT, great alaska shootout. maui invitational , etc. not to mention they usually will play like temple, umass or gtown. ACC HATER! :D

Exactly! Where do you think Duke students come from? New Jersey. And then when they graduate they move back to New Jersey. When was the last time K got a Home and Home deal with a big name school? He doesn't. He will only play them at the "neutral" court of MSG.

It comes down to money. I bet they get more of a guarantee from MSG than they could bring in for the bandbox at CIS.

LUconn what is your point? first you talk about cameron not having the "great" home court advantage, then you say duke plays OOC cupcakes. duke as well as your boys in storrs are elite teams and do not need home and home deals. i willnot go into a bunch of stats but i looked at duke's media guide ant ehy have played some decent OOC games at cameron against the likes of michigan, butler, valpo, princeton, seton hall and villanova. and of course i know duke's big alumni base in in jersey they are know in the carolinas as the state univerity of new jersey at durham. but better yet as a.g. said, it is all about the cash.

Oh yeah, my point was hey look where LU is. We're not that great but I tend to think we have one of the best HC advantages in the BS.

All the Big South (oops, big south) schools are tough at home. That is why no one has run the table in the league.

LUCONN - Easy on Jersey, thats where i am from. I don't think your stats are completly accurate either, i knew only one kid out of about 1000 kids i graduated with that went to Duke. Unless you got some stats to be back that up Duke isn't very popular up north, no Southern schools are to my knowledge.

I second that- Duke, and most other Southern schools, esp those with powder blue unis- are looked on as a little "light" if ya know what I mean.

Up here its the Big 10, Big East, etc

I don't know if any stats like that exist. I'll check on it. It's pretty common knowledge that Duke get a lot of Jerseyans. but in regards to their popularity, south or not it's duke, the bandwagon mecca of college basketball.

As a Triangle native, I'd like to say that in my experience, Duke is a 50/50 split between Jersey kids and Asian folks. :D

Two points.

A) This doesn't really measure home court advantage as much as it measures how good a program is historically. Of course teams like Duke, etc. are going to have good home court stats, they are almost always a good team. I think to better measure home court advantage you look at a particular year or set of years where a team has around the same record (in the case of multiple years) and then how many were won-lost at home.

B) There are tons of northern kids at southern schools. Plenty at winthrop. Tons at Furman, good many at Coastal. A lot of them want to get away from the bad weather, and to get to where the better looking girls are.

Then why DUKE? Hey, I like Duke and root for them in hoops, but they are renowned for having the most butt-ugly women in the ACC.

True, but Duke isn't exactly your normal southern school though.

You play like our team did last season and you're not going to get much of anything from anyone.

It doesn't matter, when you're as bad as we were, you just don't get calls.

That will change this year though.

you know I had a whole section on asians at Duke typed out, but I deleted it before I posted because of how everybody got so mad at me last year when I couldn't tell if that one guy was black or white.

rocketrfan, there are many jersey kids at duke. i wish i could find the article in the N&O, a few years ago, but jersey, connecticut, and new york, made upa big% of students at duke, and there are a lot of asians as well. NBD to me. i like the mix of students. and southern schools are very popular up north especially in the triangle.
