I did not see Blair play but wow did he look special. Definitely a good baller.

Six minutes of video highlights, and LB had 3 assists. Also, that's SCAR doing the play-by-play and RD on the bench.

he was special that is for sure...low assists because of the style that he was allowed to play at, but he had game and its too bad things were in such turmoil while he was around....

with that said...I saw tyler baker in a few of those shots....remember when he was going to be great?

Larry was soooo much fun to watch for sure. He kept every game exciting.

Larry Blair was an exciting player to be sure...he seemed to polarize the folks on here about as much as RD did...I still remember listening to the Big South Championship on the way to an event in Powhatan...

I never understood why Larry was so polarizing, but BJ is right, he was. He was a nice guy and that is from first hand interaction with him on a regular basis freshmen and sophomore years...It would've been nice if he was given more tools to grow his game but he wasn't and it really was a disservice to him.

He was loyal to LU and always was fun to watch. Nothing but respect for him

Yeah he was the best player I've seen wear a Liberty jersey. I can't wait until he gets his jersey retired. Perhaps that's part of the reason why this video is released now. Maybe he'll get it retired this season.

I remember a lot of people not liking LB too much when I was on campus - say what you will about LB but he stayed all 4 years.

I remember the same thing but I never understood why they didn't like him...

I never heard any reasons...people just would said he rubbed them the wrong way. Like I said earlier in the thread I never had any issues with him and had multiple classes and interacted with him on a regular basis and he always was very likeable

The rumor around campus was that LB got "preferential" treatment while he was on campus.

That is what I always heard too and who knows, it could've been true...its really hard to say especially with all the rumors flying around at the time of how a certain head coach ummmm helped his players. Of course those were just rumors too and we have discussed that to death on this forum but I am one to hold the faculty/coaching people more responsible for failing at having integrity then I do the student...

Yeah especially if you're talking about one of the best players to ever wear your school's colors.

From what I remember, a lot of the rumors would have been the coach to blame more than LB. From what I heard, I had/have no problem with the way LB acted during and since his LU days.

I'm just going to say that under RD, a lot of the men's bball players got "preferential treatment." McKay changed that.

As far as my interactions with Larry Blair, he was always nice, friendly, respectful of everyone around him. Definitely do not have anything negative to say about him.
