The three favorites for 6'7 Jr Marshall Wood from Rustburg (H.S.) VA are Richmond, William & Mary, and Liberty
I got to see him in person when they played Amherst...put some pounds on him and he is gonna be a solid 3 or 4 somewhere...he also has something you dont see a ton of at the high school or college level and that is a very good mid-range game...its the sort of thing that can really spread a defense.

I reffed him...a lot. I'm even in that video a few times. If he ups his work ethic, this kid would be very tough. I'm not saying he's a slouch now. He's just a typical teenager. He's above most of his competition around here, so he'll need someone to push him to see just how good he can be.

if he wants to stay local, he should transfer to VES and play against better competition in the VIC. Seminole District hoops are not that good for boys.

VCU is recruiting Marshall pretty hard. Good chance he becomes a Ram.

Someone needs to feed this kid and show him the weight room, not even 200 lbs?

Neither are some of the teams that VES plays. Would have loved to see him play against the kid from Fuqua.

He ought to go the postgrad route...the competition is better for one, and he would get a chance to bulk up in a college caliber weight program

I've never understood this for basketball. It seems to me like the best course of action for an athlete (especially one who is going to spend the full 4 years in a program) is to spend a year in their strength and conditioning program while getting adjusted to the coach/school.

A lot of these kids go that route (sometimes at the request of their colleges) to either a) get their grades boosted or b) get some things worked on without costing themselves a year of collegiate eligibility

Exactly, and more than a handful of them use the route to get a D1 offer or get more high level D1 offers. I know every year Hargrave and Fork Union will get guys that got next to no if any D1 offers out of high school then come out of there at a BCS conference school.

Sorry to say Marshall made a bad choice. He is going to play for the most NON offensive minded coach in the state. And his game doesn't fit the Hokie style.
Shoulda have went to UR or UVA. Only thing saving or helping Greenberg land recruits is the 80 million dollar practice facility. But he may prove me wrong, which I doubt.

I agree with some of that but I also think Woods fits perfectly in Greenbeans system.

I agree he could have done better than going to Tech. It's the ACC though and was the only power conference member out of his finalists. Being close to home was a consideration for him as well and Blacksburg is an ACC school which also happened to be closest to home as well.
It'll be interesting to watch his career there. Greenberg has some work to do, but a talent like Wood might help him get a little closer to where he wants them to be.

Staying in Blacksburg, according to WSET's Dennis Carter.
